Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 MVMA Member Engagement and Awards Dinner!

On Saturday, February 21, we gathered at The Gates on Roblin in Headingley to celebrate the incredible contributions of veterinary professionals across Manitoba. The evening was filled with networking, recognition, and celebration of the collective impact our members have on advancing veterinary medicine.

A special thank you to the Manitoba Veterinary Technologists Association for their awards presentations, highlighting the outstanding work of veterinary technologists in our province. Your dedication and passion inspire us all.

Congratulations to all award recipients and heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and made the night so memorable! Together, we continue to strengthen our veterinary community and honour excellence in our profession.

October is RVT Month, an opportunity to recognize the expertise and professionalism of Manitoba’s Registered Veterinary Technologists. RVTs are highly trained professionals whose knowledge and skills are essential to the functioning of veterinary clinics and the well-being of patients.

Their work spans assisting in complex procedures, performing diagnostic testing, administering treatments, and ensuring the highest standards of care. Beyond technical skill, RVTs bring critical judgment, compassion, and leadership to every veterinary team, making their role both impactful and respected.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. Mental health matters, and the MVMA is dedicated to supporting the well-being of everyone in the Manitoban veterinary community.

The MVMA Workplace Wellness Toolkit is intended for all individuals in the veterinary medicine field in Manitoba, including veterinarians, veterinary technicians, office staff, students, and volunteers. This toolkit offers valuable information about resources and support available to help you succeed and thrive in your workplace.

It is essential to understand that this toolkit cannot replace professional medical care. For assistance, members and staff can access support through Homewood Health or other publicly available services.

Alongside upcoming CVMA-Merck Animal Health su***de prevention webinars, as part of our Time to Talk initiative, the CVMA is featuring uplifting stories of Canadian veterinary professionals experiencing positive emotions, connection, meaningful accomplishments, and belonging in their work and lives.

This is what we refer to as Amplifying Joy. Amplifying Joy is a key component of the CVMA’s RISE program, celebrating what uplifts our profession and empowering veterinary professionals to build healthy, sustainable, and meaningful careers while working with resilient teams in inclusive and supportive workplaces.

By honouring what uplifts us – even during challenging times – we foster resilience, cultivate hope, and strengthen our collective well-being.

Together, we can hold space for both the highs and the hard moments.

The Manitoba Government is investing $50,000 in the Manitoba Community Vaccinator Program, an initiative the MVMA, the Winnipeg Humane Society, and our partners developed to expand access to veterinary care in northern and Indigenous communities.

This funding means more trained local vaccinators, healthier animals, and stronger, more connected communities.

We’re proud to be part of this work. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this program to life and those who continue supporting its growth.
