Our Mission

The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter is a non-profit charity committed to providing a euthanasia-free environment for unwanted animals through the provision of interim care and arrangement of adoptions to suitable owners.

Our Vision

The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter aspires to a society in which pets are accorded the right to life and are recognized as beings with feelings that have the right to loving care. The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter works towards this end by:

-Alleviating the suffering of animals by providing interim shelter
food and medical care

-Educating the public at every opportunity regarding the health-care of pets, and owners’ responsibilities concerning spaying and neutering

-Participating in spaying and neutering programs through coordination and liaisons with veterinary hospitals

Shelter Hours:
Monday to Friday -- 11am - 7pm
Saturday -- 11am - 6pm
Sunday and Holidays -- 11am - 6pm

Meet Buster 🩵
You may remember Buster, who was brought in a few weeks ago with a suspicious lump that required investigation. We’re thrilled to share that testing went well, and there’s nothing to be concerned about! Now, Buster’s back from foster, and ready for forever. He’ll thrive with a very patient, experienced family who can help this stubborn boy perfect his house manners. He would do best with someone who’s either home often, or can bring him out and about with them, and will need a safe, contained space when left home alone as he does not do too well with unsupervised free roam of the house. Although he’s somewhat on the older side, he’s still a pup at heart, and has lots of life to live and love to give! Buster is excellent on the leash, and is always down for lots of snuggles. While he was raised among other cats and dogs, he can be a bit rough on animals smaller than him, and therefore would do best as either a solo pet, or among other dogs who are larger than him. If Buster could be right for you, please swing by for a visit! 🥰

‼️We are in URGENT need of committed dog fosters‼️

We are desperately looking to welcome more dedicated people and families to our foster roster - particularly those without other pets at home. There are some emergency intakes we need to conduct, but we have no space in shelter, and no open foster homes… nowhere for these poor souls to go.

Fostering is a commitment of time, energy, and of course, lots of love and guidance, while we will handle food, supplies, vetting, and any other necessary support.

The ideal foster family will:

-Be able to transport to/from vet appointments if needed
-Communicate frequently
-Provide a vet reference
-Be open to home visits from our staff
-Have a fenced yard or safe outdoor space
-Be home often
