This sweet girl has been through the ringer, and her amazing rescue could use some financial relief 🫶 Please donate if you can
Update 1:55 p.m.
Well folks, we’ve got our miracle.
Shea is either on her way home or already arrived!
She still has a few more little pebbles left in her tummy, but with a high fiber, diet, the vet feel she will pass those without issue within the next week.
We will need to monitor the oesophagus to make sure that it all heals OK without incident.
Once everything is settled, then she can have her space surgery and hopefully that will be the last surgery for her, and this sweet soul will be ready for adoption!
She’s had so many tough health issues to get to this point that I’m almost afraid to say it …. But…
she is going to be OK.
Now for the financial stuff:
Shaya costs:
Arrowwood Vet: $632.26
Pembina Emerg: $1440.38
Total: 2072.64
Donations: $2130
Balance owed: $0
The $57.36 that was donated that was over what we needed will be saved for going against Shaya’s spay surgery
A huge thank you to our very generous donors who jumped in to help cover these costs. We should never be surprised by the kindness of the supporters of this rescue, but we are just amazed and feel so incredibly blessed by your kindness.
Thank you Richard & Ester, Karen, Ashley,Kevin, Val, Ruth, Lisa, Leona, Carolyn, Susan, Linda, Myrna, Mila, Ashley’s mom, SherriLee.
Update May 28 11:30 a.m.
We are waiting to hear how the night went and if Shaya was able to evacuate the remaining pebbles from her colon.
Financially, we estimate we are now into the $1600-$1800 range for the three nights at hospital so far. We also received the bill for the initial veterinary clinic where she was assessed on Monday and that was an additional $632.
Thanks to your incredible generosity we have received $1130 towards Shaya‘s vet bills.
I just read this morning from another rescue how they said rescue is a constant state of financial crisis with moments that are a little better and moments that are much worse. Right now we are in a worse situation but your help is leading us back towards better and we are so so thankful.
We will update on Shaya’s condition as soon as we know and have more information. We just keep hoping and praying that she does not need the surgery. She’s already had two surgeries and she still needs a spay surgery. To have another abdominal surgery would be just an awful lot for one little dog. It also seems she never does well with anaesthetic and will have a lot of nausea and vomiting, and her oesophagus is quite sensitive already. We also don’t know if she will need to have further exploration as to if she had any her esophagus. We are hoping it settles without requiring any interventions or tests.

Our sweet Shaya needs another miracle….
This sweet pup has went through so much already. She had to have a cancerous tumour removed from her leg. This was done successfully. And the good part is it looks like that’s the end of what she will need for that even though it can reoccur elsewhere in the future, but at this point, she’s good.
Then she had to have her painful, rotten teeth removed. She pulled through that surgery.
Now we were up to her very last step, which was the spay surgery. Yes this poor girl was up to her third surgery!
She had a fantastic weekend this past weekend out at the lake but the girl decided that little fine gravel and stones might just be kibble and she should take a snack.. a pretty big snack.
Monday she was admitted to Pembina emergency. She was vomiting and had thrown up. Some of the stones already but her regular vet felt she might need surgery and off to Pembina She went as an emergency case.
She’s now been in hospital for two full days and will be staying in for another day for sure.
They have been working with non-invasive processes to have her pass the pebbles.
They are slowly coming out and she has certainly had a fair bit of vomiting and she has to be on IV for that because she has dehydrated.
Right now, our bills their stands at almost $1200 and we’ve still got another day more x-rays more e***a and who knows what left. Sadly, if this does not work, she will need surgery to get the stones out.
She needs to get those stones out without surgery. Besides the fact that it’s a devastating bill for rescue it is really horrible to think of this poor dog having another surgery especially one that would be pretty significant and not without risk.
If anyone is able to help cover her vetting costs, we would be ever so grateful.
We will gladly accept e-transfers at [email protected]. Please note that any funds you are sending out for Shaya.
Please keep her in your thoughts and positivity and prayers.
