This August I’m participating in the Heart & Stroke | Cœur + AVC Walk for Heart, walking a minimum of 50km raising awareness and money for Heart & Stroke. Heart disease runs in my family (I was diagnosed with A-Fib at 47). Last year, my mom experienced a stroke, but thanks to quick intervention and huge advancements in treatment and medication her recovery has been nothing short of remarkable. And sadly just two weeks ago, my mother-in-law Donna Kirkbride (nee Green) passed away of a heart attack at 77.
As a dog walker, walking 50kms will just take care of itself but the all important funds for life saving research takes a little more effort. I’ve set an ambitious goal of $1000 and I’m off to a great start. I’ve logged 8kms and made the first $100 gift. I’ll post my progress throughout the month. But I can’t do it alone.
