This brave miniature Schnauzer has already endured so much. After undergoing life-saving surgery to remove a 4.8 lb mass from his now 11 lb body, and having all of his teeth removed, Dexter was on the road to recovery. He amazed us all with his strength, resilience, and zest for life.

Unfortunately, after several follow-up vet visits, Dexter’s recovery took a heartbreaking turn. What we hoped would be his “all-clear” checkup revealed instead that he was not yet out of the woods. Since his staples were removed, Dexter’s energy, appetite, and thirst for life declined — and he was hospitalized. 💔

💉 Update from Kenaston Veterinary Hospital:

Dexter had an abscess where one of his staples was. The abscess has been drained, and thankfully, his glucose levels and temperature have both come down. The best news of all — Dexter is more alert and even tried to give the vet team a little “love bite,” showing that our feisty boy is feeling a bit better. ❤️

Dexter has shown time and time again that he’s a fighter — and with your support, we’re giving him every chance to keep fighting.
