Update on our Karl. He has been diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). 🐾❤️
FIP is a complex disease caused by a mutation of the feline coronavirus. While many cats are exposed to feline coronavirus without ever becoming ill, a small number develop FIP, which can affect different organs and cause symptoms such as persistent fever, weight loss, decreased appetite, lethargy, fluid accumulation in the abdomen or chest, or neurological and eye changes.
For many years, an FIP diagnosis was considered fatal. Fortunately, advances in treatment have changed that outlook, and we are treating Karl with the medication now available.
Every FIP journey is unique. Successful treatment requires commitment, regular check-ups, and careful monitoring to ensure patients are responding well and staying comfortable throughout their recovery.
We're honoured to be part of Karl's journey and inspired every day by his resilience. With only one week of treatment (Treatment is 12 weeks!) he is already starting to feel better
