Avamir Australian Shepherds Breeding Australian Shepherds for health, temperament, soundness & versatility. 💕 We are a small hobby breeding home located in Windsor, Ontario.

Our goal is to produce puppies with excellent health, temperament, and structure according to the breed standard. Our puppies make excellent family companions, and also have the biddability to excel in any venue. We do all OFA required health tests on our dogs which includes OFA eyes, hips and elbows. We also do genetic health testing through Paw Print Genetics. Our dogs, their ancestors and their relatives have been cleared for all health testing prior to breeding to ensure the best possible health of our puppies. We plan our litters very carefully with specific goals and improvements in mind, and work with a knowledgeable, renowned breed mentor who has over 35 years of experience breeding and showing Australian Shepherds. All of our puppies are microchipped and registered with the Canadian Kennel Club. They are sent home with a puppy information package, a pet insurance offer, vet checked, up to date on vaccines, de-wormed, and eyes examined by a veterinary ophthalmologist. We do NOT dock tails on our puppies! We raise our puppies in our home with us using the Puppy Culture protocol, which has been scientifically proven to greatly improve outcomes for puppies. We also offer a lifetime support for each of our puppy families, and a 5 year genetic health guarantee on every puppy.

Happy 4th Birthday to our South Park litter! (The Bonnie x Tex babies) 🥳❤️

Four years ago today, this special little crew made their entrance into the world, and somehow those tiny puppies are already FOUR. 🥹

This birthday is a little bittersweet, as we remember sweet Arlo, who we lost far too soon last October due to acute kidney failure. He will always be a very loved and very missed part of this special litter, and we’re thinking of him and his family a little extra today. ❤️🌈

Happy birthday, babies! We hope you’re all being thoroughly spoiled by your families today with lots of treats, love, and all your favourite things. 🥰🎂

Happy 4th birthday to Bandit, Cash and Chiyo! 🥳

And happy heavenly birthday to Arlo. ❤️

We’d love to see some birthday photos and updates from our Bonnie × Tex puppy families in the comments!

You’ve probably heard that garlic is toxic to pets, but science says otherwise. My latest article takes a closer look at the research, including the strong safety data on aged garlic extract in dogs and the science exploring its potential roles in:
❤️ Cardiovascular health
🦠 Immune and antimicrobial support
🛡️ Antioxidant and detoxification pathways
🦷 Oral health
🐜 Natural parasite and tick control
🐾 Inflammatory skin conditions
🧬 And even cancer prevention
A 12-week study in dogs found no adverse effects from aged garlic extract, even at doses substantially higher than typical supplemental amounts, and researchers observed increased activity of the Nrf2 antioxidant pathway.
Did you know that garlic is also a powerful parasite and tick repellent? Learn all about the safe use of garlic for pets in my latest article, link in comments 🧄.

Five years ago today, our very first puppy was born. Just one little singleton puppy… and we had absolutely no idea how special he would become to us. 🥹

Gibby was the first puppy we ever got to raise from birth, so naturally we poured absolutely everything into him. Every little milestone was exciting, every new thing he did was a big deal, and he had our undivided attention from day one. ❤️

Watching him grow into the dog he is today and seeing how incredibly loved he is by his family has been one of the most rewarding parts of breeding. He’s smart (sometimes a little too smart 😂), frisbee obsessed, water loving, devoted to his people, and has grown into the sweetest big brother.

It really doesn’t feel possible that the tiny little puppy who started it all is FIVE today. 🥹

Happy birthday Gibby. You will always have an extra special piece of our hearts. ❤️ We love you so much!
