Our Clinic

Alpine Veterinary Medical Centre (AVMC) is seeking a full time Registered Veterinary Technologist to join our practice in Whitehorse, Yukon. We have been in the community for over 20 years and have a strong connection with our clients within Whitehorse and the neighboring communities.

We currently have eight veterinarians and six RVTs. We practice high quality medicine and utilise digital dental and full body radiographs, ultrasound including echocardiograms, and a full suite of in-house lab equipment. Current RVTs have the opportunity to develop their interests including complex wound management, RVT appointments with clients, and in-depth counseling and management of diabetic patients. We would be happy to support you in developing any special interests you have to make the most of your knowledge and skills as an RVT.

We are in a unique position of providing veterinary care to a remote community. Because of our remote location, we frequently see challenging and stimulating cases, making practice here very rewarding. Whitehorse is still a small enough community that you will see clients and patients you know regularly, and your role as an RVT will make you an important part of our community.

Our Community

Whitehorse is an incredible city for living, working and playing. Outdoor recreation here includes world-class mountain biking trails, a cross country ski hill just up the road from our clinic, innumerable lakes for fishing and camping, and incredible rivers for canoeing and kayaking. Almost all subdivisions have nearby greenbelt trails for walking your dog, and there are over 500km of trails within the city and near the city for exploring. The sun sets at 1:30 am during summer solstice, so even after work you can be playing outdoors until bedtime, and regardless of what your activity of choice is, you can likely access it either directly out of your home or within 15 minutes of driving. If you’re new to any of these sports but interested in learning, Whitehorse has a great community centered around all of its different recreational activities that is welcoming to newcomers.

We wanted to provide an update to everyone about the changes that are occurring here at Alpine Veterinary Medical Centre. We will be living through expansion and renovation for the better part of 2026. When we are finished we will have added 1800 sq feet to our space. We will increase from three exam rooms to seven, one surgical suite and one dental suite to two each. We will also increase our kennel space and dog runs by over 50%. The existing clinic will receive a much needed update as well. The expansion will also include a phone call room with the goal of answering every call that we receive. We have been lucky to hire three new veterinarians this year. Dr. Tannicka Reeves, Dr. Hayden Nevill and Dr. Amy Martell. We will have another veterinarian joining our team in June 2026. With the expansion in exam rooms and veterinarians we are hopeful that we will once again be able to offer same day appointments. We ask for your patience with the parking issues as construction continues.

Happy Holidays from the team at Alpine Veterinary Medical Centre
