🐓⚠️ Not All Kitchen Scraps Are Safe for Your Birds!

While your flock enjoy a variety of treats, some common household foods can be harmful to your birds' health. Knowing what to avoid is an important part of keeping a healthy coop.

🚫 Keep these foods off the menu:
• Avocado (especially the pit and skin)
• Raw or green potato peels
• Green tomatoes, leaves, and stems
• Excessive onions
• Chocolate
• Coffee and tea
• Alcohol
• Salty or highly processed foods
• Moldy or spoiled scraps
• Raw or uncooked beans

Providing a balanced diet, quality poultry feed, and safe treats is one of the best ways to support healthy, productive birds. When you're unsure about a food item, it's always better to err on the side of caution.

Have you ever noticed a soft, cloudy coating on a fresh egg? 🥚✨ That’s called the bloom. It is a natural protective layer the hen adds when the egg is laid!

The bloom helps seal the shell’s tiny pores, keeping moisture in and bacteria out, which helps farm-fresh eggs stay fresher longer right from the nest.

Once eggs are washed, that natural barrier is removed, which is why refrigeration becomes important afterward. Nature has its own way of protecting fresh eggs! 🐔
