Today was a very special day as both Felix and Butterscotch found their forever homes.

We know these two are going to be absolutely spoiled and loved by their new families. Itโ€™s always exciting to see cats leave rescue behind and start their new lives with families of their own.

A very special thank you to Andrea Parker for fostering Felix and Butterscotch and helping prepare them for adoption. Weโ€™d also like to thank Pet Valu Windsor for caring for these two while they waited for their forever families to come along.

Today was Theoโ€™s big day, and we couldnโ€™t be happier for this handsome fellow as he heads off to his forever home. โค๏ธ

Theo was quite shy at first, but after just four weeks in foster care, he is a completely different cat. He had been cared for by a kind individual in the Elderkinโ€™s Farm Market area before making his way to Stray2Stay Cat Rescue.

In just four short weeks, Theo underwent an incredible transformation. The shy cat we first met turned into a complete love bug who wanted nothing more than affection, cuddles, and companionship.

A very special thank you goes out to his foster, Suzanne Patterson, for her dedication and work with Theo. His journey is a wonderful reminder of what can happen when a cat is given the time and support they need to feel safe and loved.

Congratulations, Theo! We wish you a lifetime of happiness in your new home. ๐Ÿก

We are truly grateful for the incredible response from everyone willing to help foster. The kindness, compassion, and support shown has been absolutely heartwarming.

Thank you to each and every person who reached out, shared, offered assistance, or opened their hearts and homes to animals in need.

We are currently looking for foster support within West Hants, Kings County, and surrounding areas.

Very recently, weโ€™ve received multiple requests for help involving kittens born outdoors to feral cats, and we are currently working on several different colonies/properties.

Right now, we have two litters needing intake. One litter is estimated to be around 6 weeks old, and another is approximately 8-10 weeks old. The photo of the kittens in the pink bed was actually taken several weeks ago when they were only two weeks old. They have remained safe where they are, but they are now old enough to come into rescue.

The feral cats on these properties will also be trapped, spayed/neutered, and returned so the cycle does not continue.

Currently staying at Pet Valu Windsor, these two adorable young cats are hoping to find homes of their own. While they are not a bonded pair, both Butterscotch and Felix do very well with other cats and would likely thrive in homes with a friendly feline companion.

If youโ€™re looking for a cat who wants to be involved in absolutely everything you do, Butterscotch may be your girl. Curious, social, and full of personality, this petite sweetheart loves following her people around, supervising the household, and making sure sheโ€™s included in the action. Sheโ€™s affectionate, playful, and never says no to attention or a good snack.

Felix is a quieter soul who prefers to take his time settling into new surroundings, but once he feels safe, his sweet personality really shines through. He loves cuddling, sleeping on the bed with his people, and being close to those he trusts. Felix has a calm, gentle nature, but he also has a playful side that starts to come out once heโ€™s comfortable in his environment.

Both cats are approximately 8 months old and fully vetted.

Officially renamed Lynyrd after being adopted on May 10th, this big handsome guy has completely settled into his new life and very quickly made himself a best friend. As you can see, his new dog sibling seems pretty happy about the arrangement too. ๐Ÿถ

Seeing photos like these never gets old. A cat who once had to survive outdoors is now stretched out on couches, sharing beds, and living the kind of life every cat deserves.

Thank you to his adopter for loving him so much already and for giving this sweet boy such an amazing home. We absolutely love getting updates like this. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

We honestly canโ€™t believe Colin and Raye are still waiting for their forever home together. ๐Ÿ’”

Not only are these two incredibly lovable, easygoing cats, but we still havenโ€™t received a single application for them. Truthfully, we thought they would have been scooped up long ago.

Colin and Raye were trapped as older kittens from the same outdoor colony. Although they came from separate litters, they formed an incredibly close bond in foster care and have been inseparable ever since. They play together, sleep together, groom each other, and are almost always side by side.

They absolutely adore people and love being part of whatever is going on around them. They are the kind of cats that just make a home feel warm and lived in. Funny, affectionate, playful, and full of personality. Whoever adopts them is going to have no shortage of love, companionship, and entertainment.

Theyโ€™ve settled beautifully into indoor life and are more than ready for a forever home of their own.

Today, we were happy to help our friends on the South Shore by accommodating a last minute spay appointment for a feral cat from a managed outdoor colony. This girl was trapped while pregnant and very shortly after gave birth to 3 kittens. Sadly, one of the kittens did not survive. This is the reality for so many stray and feral cats living outdoors when cats are left unfixed.

Momma will now have time to recover before being returned to the colony she calls home and where she is most comfortable.

A huge thank you to Crossroads Animal Hospital/Tantallon for fitting her in on short notice, and great job to our South Shore friends for putting in the hard work to help control the stray and feral cat population in their communities. Every spay and neuter truly does make a difference. ๐Ÿพ

We are looking for a foster home for Frankie. ๐Ÿงก

Frankie is currently with a temporary foster until Sunday, and weโ€™re hoping to find someone who could foster him until his dental appointment on July 16th.

He is neutered, vetted, FIV/FeLV negative, parasite treated, and just needs a cracked canine removed before heโ€™s ready for adoption.

Frankie is an absolute sweetheart. Heโ€™s very low key, loves attention, enjoys being petted, and purrs nonstop. Heโ€™s the kind of cat that is just happy hanging out nearby and relaxing with his people.

Theo is currently accepting applications for one full time cuddle companion. Requirements include sharing the couch, allowing him to sleep in your bed, and understanding that personal space is now a thing of the past. โค๏ธ

Since coming into foster care, Theo has made amazing progress and has quickly shown us that being close to his people is his absolute favourite thing. He has come leaps and bounds from his time spent living outdoors near Elderkinโ€™s Farm Market, even though he did have a very kind individual looking out for him along the way.

Theo will likely be shy when first meeting new people, but he warms up very quickly once he feels comfortable. While he currently shares a foster home with other cats, he tends to keep to himself and can be a little intimidated by them. Because of this, we feel Theo would do best as the only cat in the home where he can truly relax and be the centre of attention.

Theo will be adopted directly from his foster home.

We wanted to share a little update on our Angelโ€ฆ now known as Jack. โค๏ธ

Itโ€™s safe to say this boy has settled in beautifully and is absolutely adored by his new family.

From keeping an eye on everything happening around the dinner table, to playing with toys, exploring the house, and soaking up all the love and attention he can get, Jack is truly thriving in his new home.

Like many rescues across the province, we were extremely disappointed to hear that the Nova Scotia SPCA TNR mobile clinic will not be operating in 2026.

For rescues working with outdoor and feral cat populations, TNR is not optional. It is the single most effective way to reduce the number of homeless cats being born every season. Without it, the cycle simply continues.

Many local rescues are already operating at or beyond capacity while trying to manage overwhelming numbers of stray, abandoned, and colony cats. The reality is that rescues are the ones trapping, transporting, housing cats before and after surgery, and providing ongoing colony support. Programs like this helped offset at least some of the financial burden associated with that work.

Now, those costs will fall entirely onto already stretched volunteer-run rescues and caregivers.

The unfortunate reality is that when accessible TNR resources disappear, the problem does not disappear with them. Colonies continue to grow, more kittens are born outdoors, and rescues are left trying to respond after the fact rather than preventing the cycle in the first place.

TNR cannot continue to be treated as an afterthought. If there is any real goal of reducing stray and feral cat populations in this province, then accessible TNR programs need to be made a priority. Prevention is not optional โ€” it is the only long term solution.
