Regular grooming is part of responsible dog ownership. In this video, a young German Shepherd named Sting is being groomed. German Shepherds have a dense double coat that sheds heavily twice a year. In the spring and fall they blow their coat. During this period large amounts of undercoat come out and the dog must be brushed often to remove loose hair.
Grooming keeps the coat clean and allows air to reach the skin. It also helps check for skin problems, parasites, or irritation. A well-groomed dog stays healthier, more comfortable, and easier to manage inside the home.
