Goodbye to our Jack. โค๏ธ๐พ
We've gone back and forth about sharing the loss of one of our crew a couple of weeks ago, but in the end, it felt like not sharing would be a disservice to our clients and to Jack himself.
So many of you cheered Jack on from afar, admired his incredible size, and more recently asked about his rapid decline in mobility when you didn't see him around as much.
Jack came to us as a rescue many years ago. He was quickly labeled an aggressive giant breed with a bite historyโunpredictable and known to bite without warning. But from that moment, I saw something worth fighting for.
Over the years, we dedicated ourselves to helping Jack succeed. We built trust, adapted our home to keep everyone safe, muzzle trained, focused on careful socialization, trained every single day, worked closely with our veterinarians to find the right behavioral medications, and later trialed treatments to help keep him comfortable as his mobility declined.
Jack wasn't just our dogโhe was our teacher.
He sparked our family's passion for the "unadoptable" and misunderstood animals and watched us welcome everything from a tarantula and a tortoise to countless dogs into our home. He showed us that labels don't define a dog, and he taught our very young children that love and boundaries can exist together safely and happily. He proved that patience, compassion, and understanding can change lives.
His bond with his mama and his tiny Chihuahua sister was unbreakable, and he filled our home with more love than words could ever express.
Thank you for every laugh, every kiss, and yes... every bite. You made us better. ๐
I hope the chocolate chip cookies are endless, the ice cream is always X-large, and your legs can carry you as fast as they once did. โค๏ธ
A special thank you to our incredible employees for loving Jack as if he were their own and for helping care for his special needs, and espeically to auntie Stacy for those late night cheese snacks. We are also deeply grateful to the compassionate team at Northern Lights Veterinary Clinic for their exceptional care, as well as to our previous veterinarian in Newfoundland for her unwavering reassurance and support throughout Jack's journey.
Run free, our sweet boy. Until we meet again. ๐๐พ
Jack left behind more than memories; he left behind a purpose. When clients ask us if we're willing to care for their anxious, fearful, or misunderstood dog, our answer will always be yes. Because every one of those dogs reminds us of Jack, and every one of them deserves someone willing to see beyond the label. ๐พ๐พ๐พ๐พ
