Sweet mamma Rayna is ready for her own happy ending. 💗

Rayna recently welcomed a litter of kittens, and now that all her little ones have grown up and found loving homes of their own, this sweet girl is ready to find a family to call hers.

She’s an affectionate girl who might need a little time to settle into a new space and get comfortable with new people. But with some patience and kindness, she’ll have the chance to show you just how lovely she is.

After raising her babies, Rayna deserves a little love and attention of her own. Could you be the one to give this sweet mamma her happily ever after? https://adopt.spca.bc.ca/pets/794154/

Happy tails for beautiful lil Miso!

This young piggy came into our care after her owner had to move and sadly couldn’t take all four of their guinea pigs with them. With how difficult it’s become to find pet friendly housing, we know situations like this can be especially heartbreaking for families who want to keep their pets but simply can’t find a place that will allow them. 💔

When Miso and her bonded cagemate arrived, they had both been surrendered to us as boys. But during their intake exams, our small animal team discovered that Miso was actually a girl! Cue the worry that we might soon have even more little guinea pigs needing homes. Thankfully, we caught it early enough to separate them, and Miso spent the next few weeks on pregnancy watch before she was ready to find her new family.

Last week, Miso’s wait was finally over! She found her forever home, and we couldn’t be happier for this sweet girl. After an unexpected start to her shelter journey, Miso is off to enjoy her next chapter with a family of her own. We’re wishing her all the best and hope she settles into her new home beautifully! 🤗🤩💜

🐰📝 Dear diary,

I’m putting this out into the universe in hopes that my forever family finds me soon. I’ve been staying with my foster family, and they seem to think I’m pretty darn great! I’m a big fan of breakfast and morning pets, and I love coming out to see what everyone’s up to. I also have a cozy little fort to hang out in when I feel like having some me time. A guy needs his beauty sleep, after all! 😅

I actually had a family of my own a few years ago, and they loved me very much. Sadly, I had to come back to the shelter through no fault of my own. I’m hoping it won’t be too long before I find another family to love me just as much.

I’m a sweet little guy, and I think I have a lot of love left to give. I just need someone to give me a chance and a home where I can settle in and stay for good. If you happen to be looking for a bunny to add to your family, maybe we should meet? Just a thought. 😉

Love,
Buttercup

Lately, we’ve noticed quite a bit of misinformation being shared in Facebook groups about which species Wild ARC will and will not accept, and how we will handle specific cases. As a busy non-profit wildlife hospital caring for hundreds of patients every year, we simply do not have the capacity to monitor social media discussions. If you have questions about a wild animal in distress, please call or email us and let us speak for ourselves!

When wildlife needs help, please don't ask AI for advice. Don't rely on Facebook comments or online guesses. Ask the professionals. Wildlife rehabilitators have the training, experience, and resources needed to assess each unique situation and ensure animals receive the care they need as quickly as possible.

Wild animals require highly specialized care, housing, and nutrition. Well-intentioned attempts to care for wildlife at home can unintentionally cause serious harm. It is also illegal in British Columbia to rehabilitate or keep native wild animals without the appropriate permits.

📞 See an animal in distress? Contact your local wildlife rehabilitation centre and help us give that animal the best possible chance at a successful return to the wild.

We want to say a big thank you to the folks at Bosley's on Burnside for supporting our Community Pet Food Bank with a food drive this month! :)

Our Pet Food Bank helps so many local families put food in their pets’ bowls when times are tough. Donations like these help keep pets fed and families together, and we’re so grateful to everyone who helps make that possible.

We’re only halfway through the month, and they are hoping to fill this entire dog crate with cans of pet food! There’s still plenty of time to help make that happen. Next time you’re at Bosley’s on Burnside picking up supplies for your own pets, consider grabbing an extra can or two for a pet in need. It’s a small gesture that can make a big difference for an animal in our community.

Thank you to Bosley’s and everyone who donates to help keep our community’s pets fed. 💜🤗

A big thank you to both Bosley's on Burnside and Bosleys Oak Bay for their incredibly generous donations to our Community Pet Food Bank! 🐾

They loaded us up with a whole bunch of pet food, litter, treats and other goodies that will help us support local pet families who are having a tough time keeping their pets fed and cared for.

Bosley’s Oak Bay also donated a cheque to BC SPCA Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (Wild ARC), which will help support the amazing work they do for injured and orphaned wildlife.

We’re so lucky to have such a supportive community behind us and the animals we care for. Thank you Bosley’s for helping us help more animals and their families!
