🎉💗 382 DAYS… AND PHOEBE HAS FINALLY FOUND HER FOREVER! 💗🎉

After 382 days in Victoria Bulldog Society’s care — our sweet, sassy, senior girl Miss Phoebe is officially ADOPTED yesterday! 🥹🐾

Phoebe is a 9½-year-old English Bulldog who came into our care needing quite a bit of help. She arrived with a significant skin infection, horrible airway and ear issues, and needed dental work.

Over her time with us, Phoebe had an echocardiogram for her heart, dental surgery, BOAS airway surgery, and even had a lump removed from her side. She has been through a lot, but through it all, Phoebe has remained completely & unapologetically… Phoebe. 😂💗

And now this sweet senior gets to spend her retirement surrounded by love — with her new mom, Lynne, another dog, and 2 kitties. 🐶🐱🐱❤️

Lynne happens to be a veterinarian, but even vets have to learn the very important art of Bulldog Time & Determination™. 😂 There is a certain amount of Phoebe’s determination, fixation on very important toys & objects, & general Bulldog stubbornness that simply cannot be taught or explained until you've had an English.

But that’s okay. We know learning it with Phoebe is the best intro. ❤️

And while Phoebe is officially adopted, there’s a little plot twist to her happily-ever-after…

Her mom has a long-planned, well-deserved trip out of the country, so Phoebe has temporarily come back into our care & is spending the next few weeks back with one of her amazing foster families. That means we get a few more weeks of extra Phoebe cuddles before she heads back home for good.

Honestly… we’re not complaining. 😉

We cannot thank everyone who donated, volunteered, fostered, shared, cheered her on, & supported Phoebe throughout her journey. It truly takes a village to rescue bulldogs, and Phoebe is proof of what that village can accomplish. 🐾

And maybe… just maybe… Phoebe’s story can inspire someone else to become part of that village. 🤞

We now have 14 dogs in Victoria Bulldog Society’s care, all living in foster homes, & we’re still looking for the right foster or foster-to-adopt homes for some of our bulldogs.

Congratulations, officially Alumni Phoebe, Lynne & family. ❤️🎉 So lucky 🐾

🐾 Our handsome little toy poodle, HaiHai, had a vet visit yesterday! 🐾💙

Now that all of his major medical needs are behind him, we’re working on getting all of his basics taken care of — starting with his vaccine updates! 💉🐶

In about four weeks, HaiHai will be back for his booster vaccines, and then he’ll be all set for adoption 🏡❤️

It’s so exciting to see this little guy getting closer and closer to the next chapter of his life. 🥰

🐾❤️ THE SENIOR SISTER DUO HAD A VET DAY! ❤️🐾

Milkshake & Franny had a double date at the vet! 😂🐶🐶

Our dynamic duo — Milkshake at 13 years old & Franny at 11 — are both officially in their senior years, and keeping them feeling their best means staying on top of their routine care. ❤️

Both girls are on medications to help keep them comfortable, pain-free & moving their best, so regular exams and bloodwork are especially important to make sure everything is looking good and that they can safely continue their medications.

The good news? Their bloodwork looked pretty darn good for two senior ladies! 🥹❤️

They’re both carrying just a tiny bit of extra weight, so we’ll be working on that too — but thankfully, nothing major.

Their vet visit included full exams, bloodwork, vaccine updates & Franny had her ulcer checked & it's healed very nicely phew & everything needed to keep these two senior sisters on track.

💰 Total cost for both girls: $1,300

Routine veterinary care may not be the most exciting part of rescue, but it’s one of the most important. These are the things that help our senior dogs stay comfortable, healthy & living their very best lives for as long as possible. ❤️

So here’s to many more good days, comfy naps, tasty snacks and happy senior adventures for our beautiful Milkshake & Franny. 🥹🐾❤️

📰✨ BIGGIE SMALLS IS A CELEBRITY! ✨📰

Well, well, well… look who made the Times Colonist! 😍

Our very own Biggie Smalls has officially gone from rescue Bulldog to newspaper celebrity — and honestly, he’s taking his newfound fame exactly as you’d expect…

By napping. 😂💤

Biggie was photographed after a rousing game of fetch🤣, catching some well-deserved ZZZs while we work through his medical issues & get him the surgeries he needs. 🥹❤️

And what better day for our handsome boy to have his moment in the spotlight than National Dog Day?! 🐶🎉

Today we’re celebrating Biggie Smalls and ALL the good dogs who are waiting for their people, their forever homes, their soft beds, their endless treats and all the pats they can possibly handle. ❤️

So if you happen to see a very handsome Bulldog in the Times Colonist today…

YES. That’s our Biggie Smalls. 📰⭐️

He’s famous now. Please remember to treat him accordingly. 😂

🐾❤️ HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY! ❤️🐾

Today we’re celebrating the goofy faces, butt wiggles, wet-nose kisses, couch cuddles & unconditional love that make dogs such incredible companions. 🥹🐶

But today is also a good day for an important reminder:

Dogs are not just a commitment for the good days — they’re a commitment for ALL the days. ❤️

They can be hilarious, challenging, expensive, messy, occasionally annoying 😂 & sometimes downright exhausting… but they can also be some of the most amazing creatures we have the privilege of sharing our lives with.

Bringing a dog into your family means committing to their needs for their entire lifetime — not just while they’re a cute puppy or when life is easy.

That means being prepared for:
🐾 Routine AND unexpected veterinary care
🐾 Proper nutrition, grooming & dental care
🐾 Training, exercise & mental enrichment
🐾 Patience through the difficult stages
🐾 The financial responsibility of caring for another life
🐾 And, most importantly, love, patience & TLC through every stage.

Before welcoming any animal into your home, please do your research. Learn about the breed, genetics, potential health concerns, temperament, exercise & grooming needs, lifespan & financial commitment.

Make sure they’re a good fit for your lifestyle now AND 10+ years from now — and that you’re prepared for those years ahead.

And please remember: there is no such thing as a “perfect” dog. Every dog will have quirks, challenges & different needs. The goal isn’t finding a dog that fits perfectly into your life; it’s being prepared to build a life that meets theirs, too. ❤️

🐾❤️ JUST A LITTLE REMINDER THAT RESCUE DOGS DESERVE THE SWEETEST THINGS IN LIFE. ❤️🐾

Dwayne “The Dog” Johnson and one of his very best buddies, catching some serious cuddle time. 🥹💤

After everything some of our dogs have been through, there’s something extra special about seeing them completely relaxed, feeling safe, loved & surrounded by friends. ❤️

And this sweet boy is READY. 🥹❤️

Dwayne has done the hard work, settled into rescue life and shown us what a goofy, loving, crazy, super strong, affectionate boy he is. Now, he’s ready for the next chapter — his forever home. 🏡🐾

We’d love nothing more than to see Dwayne surrounded by a family who will love him as much as we do and give him the forever he deserves.

🚨 OKAY, AMAZING COMMUNITY… WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Needle-in-a-haystack kind of post, so PLEASE SHARE! ❤️ We need to find someone with a very specific skill set who could help change Bruce Lee’s life.

Bruce Lee is a special-needs bulldog who has been working incredibly hard on his recovery. 🥹❤️ He uses a wheelchair & I’ve been dreaming about a way to get his back legs patterning more naturally while he moves to help his nerves.

So… I did what any crazy rescue person would do. 😂

I built a prototype!

💡 The idea is to modify Bruce Lee’s current wheelchair by adding a pedal/leg-cycling system between the rear wheels. His front legs would power the chair, while the wheels drive the pedals, moving his back legs through a more natural walking pattern.

The goal?

🐾 More movement through his back legs
🐾 More natural patterning
🐾 More rehab opportunities during everyday wheelchair use
🐾 Another tool to help Bruce Lee continue his recovery ❤️

I created a quick prototype, & somehow my little idea has already sent my social feeds blowing up with similar creations from around the world! 🌎

The problem?

I CAN’T FIND IT IN 🇨🇦

I’ve found that could potentially be shipped here $15,000+Euro Ouch. 😬

SO THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN! 👇

Is there an engineer? Mechanical engineer? Machinist? Fabricator? Rehab-equipment designer? Wheelchair wizard? Adaptive-equipment expert?

Or maybe you know someone who knows someone who would look at this crazy prototype & say:

We need someone who can help turn Bruce Lee’s existing wheelchair into a SAFE, functional pedal system that allows his back legs to move/pattern while his front legs propel the chair.

🎉CONGRATULATIONS KEVIN HART 🐾🏡

Kevin Hart started his journey at our local amazing municipal shelter & on Nov 23, 2025, we were lucky to pull him into Victoria Bulldog Society care.

Today marks 271 DAYS in rescue — & WOW, what a change! 🥹

When Kevin arrived, he had a lot going on. Over the past 271 days, we:

💉 Updated all his vaccines
🪱 Dewormed & kept him flea & tick free
✂️ Completed his neuter surgery
👃 Completed his BOAS airway surgery
👂 Cleared his skin & ear infections
🍽️ Found a diet that works for him
💊💊 Found a daily med & supplement routine that works for him
🍪 Put in lots of training
❤️ And, most importantly, helped him get back to the quality of life he deserves!

Kevin is an allergy dog, so he will need ongoing daily care, but today he is exactly where he should be.

✨ No skin or ear infections
✨ No constant itchiness
✨ No pain
✨ No laboured breathing
✨ Just a happy, healthy, funny little guy living his BEST life! ❤️

And then there’s Laura❤️

What started as “just fostering” turned into something very special.

Laura has put in SO much daily work, patience, love & training to help Kevin become the dog he is today. Through every challenge, she never gave up on him.

It’s clear you 2 have become an amazing team & we are beyond thrilled Kevin gets to spend the rest of his life with the person who has been by his side through it all.
