Want to help prevent separation anxiety? š¾
Sometimes the little things we do every day can teach our dogs that being apart is a big deal.
A few simple habits can help:
1. Keep departures calm.
You don't need a big goodbye routine before leaving. The more exciting the departure, the more significant your absence can feel.
2. Crate train properly.
The crate should be a place your dog is comfortable relaxingānot somewhere they only go when you're leaving.
3. Let them learn to be alone.
Close the door. You don't need your dog following you from room to room all day. Teaching them that they can settle independently is an important life skill.
Independence is something we can build gradually, just like any other behaviour.
