Copley Community Orchard is on the unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We have partnered with the City of Vancouver (not Vancouver Parks) to work with community members to create an urban agriculture site on the former grounds of Richard and Marie Copley’s orchard. The site had been vacant for decades, and now, in keeping with the site’s history, our focus is perennial fruit culture as we connect to the land, food, and each other. The site includes an apple orchard, espaliered apple and pear trees, rare or unique fruit trees, berry bushes and fruiting shrubs. There is a focus on community celebration and education, as well as good old fashioned organic food production!

October at the Orchard 🧡

Join us for one of our most meaningful community gatherings of the year!

Together, we’ll plant orange tulips and crocuses in the Every Child Matters Garden as we remember, honour, and care for the garden and the land.

We’ll also spend some time with the beautiful Nootka rose. Learn how to prune these native roses, discover their fragrant pink flowers and nutrient-rich hips, and explore the important role they play in supporting local ecosystems.

Bring your family, your curiosity, and your garden gloves!
There will be plenty of opportunities to learn, help out, connect, and enjoy time together in the orchard.

Join us! Together, we can create something truly special at Copley Community Orchard!

The orchard’s funding comes from grants and contributions, making your support invaluable. If you are able to contribute, online donations are preferred, but we also accept cash for your convenience.

The suggested donation for the season is $5.00 per event or $20.00 to $50.00.

This National Tree Day Tree Canada / Arbres Canada join Copley Community Orchard neighbours for a morning of planting, learning, and connecting!

We’re planting chestnuts!

We’ll be planting two grafted chestnut varieties. The ‘Colossal’ and ‘Nevada’ are a great pairing for cross-pollination and a future harvest of delicious nuts.

‘Colossal’ produces large, sweet nuts and benefits from having another chestnut variety nearby for pollination.

‘Nevada’ is an excellent pollinator for ‘Colossal’ while also producing its own quality nuts. Together, these trees can help create a productive chestnut planting for years to come!

Then join us for a tour of the orchard, where we’ll explore the many different trees growing at Copley and learn more about this special community space.

Plant a tree. Meet your neighbours. Grow community.
