Some souls are just meant to find each other. ❤️

In 2023, a box of puppies was dumped in the trash outside the rescue. Some didn’t make it, and those that did were all adopted quickly except Malyse, aka Scruffy. 💔 Natalie, a volunteer at our rescue who was visiting from Germany, fell in love with him. But she was flying home and couldn’t take him with her. So she changed her flight and paid to bring him to Vancouver, where he could stay with a foster family and hopefully find his forever home. ✈️ Within days, he was adopted. 🎉

Three months ago, we received the news that Scruffy needed to be rehomed. 😞We told Natalie, and as soon as the paperwork could be arranged, she flew from Germany to Vancouver to bring him home. 🥹

Today, Scruffy is living his best life on Natalie’s farm in Germany, right where he belongs, with the person who loved him from the very beginning. 🐶 👩🏼 Now he spends his days with his chicken and duck siblings, lounging in the hammock, taking long walks and running free on the farm. 🇩🇪

Sometimes, life takes a few unexpected turns to bring you back to the soul you’re meant to be with. Scruffy was always Natalie’s boy. They just needed a little time to find their way back to each other.❤️🐾

🍬 Meet Candy ❤️

Candy is a super scruffy, happy-go-lucky little girl who is ready for her forever home! At about 5 years old and 24 lbs, she is fully grown, smart, playful and wonderfully easygoing. She loves to play but is just as happy to relax and get cuddles and scratches. She has medium energy and seems to like new people and other doggos.

Candy was found skin and bones outside a school, where a security guard had been feeding her tortillas. She would wait for him to come each day, and that was how she survived. She came to the rescue in 2022 and has been patiently waiting ever since.

She gets along with all the other dogs at the rescue and hasn’t been around children or cats since arriving, so we don’t know how she would do with them, but we think she could potentially be good with either.

Candy is heartworm positive and is on the slow-kill method. We believe she is a poodle mix and she will need regular grooming to maintain her wild (but adorable) coat!

We think it’s finally Candy’s turn and we’re hoping there is someone out there for her. She has so much life ahead of her and so much love to give. ❤️

🩶MEET AZUCAR🩶

Azucar was found tied to a tree on the side of the road, with no water, in 30°C heat. We have no idea how long he had been there… (see the last 4 photos)

He was skinny, dirty, scared, and clearly had no idea if the people approaching him were there to help. The rescue patiently earned his trust and eventually convinced him to get into the car with the help of some treats. From there, he went straight to the vet, where he received fluids and a full shave.

That was the beginning of a whole new chapter for Azucar!

He has now spent the last three years at the rescue, patiently waiting for his chance. And we think that chance has finally come.

Today, Azucar is a friendly, affectionate boy who loves people and gets along with dogs. He also has absolutely no problem making sure he gets his share of the attention. If you’re loving on another dog, Azucar will happily push his way into your lap because clearly, that is where he belongs.😂

He is approximately 5 years old, weighs around 15 kg and has the most incredible eyes that seem to look straight into your soul.

Azucar is heartworm positive and is currently being treated using the slow-kill method. He leads a normal, active life and will need to remain on this treatment until he is negative (please dm us if you have questions)

We think he could do well in many different homes, but we’d love to see him with an active family without children, simply because he hasn’t had experience around kids. We also think being the only dog would be his ideal setup so he can have all the love and attention he clearly believes he deserves. ❤️

Go back through our previous posts to see Azucar when he was first found. The transformation is incredible.

He went from a terrified dog tied to a tree with no water in the heat to a happy, affectionate boy who is ready to be someone’s best friend.

Now he just needs someone to choose him.🐾

🐾❤️ MEET OYITOS ❤️🐾

Three years ago, Oyitos was found on the side of a highway near Chetumal, Mexico.

He had been hit by a car and left unable to stand with broken hips. While he lay there helpless, someone had burned cigarette butts into his paws. He was close to death when he was rescued. 😔

💔 But Oyitos survived.

After surgery, months of recovery, and a whole lot of determination, he learned to walk again.

Today, he’s in North Vancouver, BC, looking for a family of his own. 🇨🇦

And despite everything he’s been through, Oyitos is one of the easiest dogs you’ll ever meet.

✨ House trained from day one
✨ Good with dogs, cats, kids, and people
✨ Can be left alone without issue
✨ Quiet and calm (his foster says he’s only barked once—and it was at a cat on TV 😆)

He loves following his foster around the house, napping nearby while he works, soaking up the sun ☀️, and doing little spins when dinner is coming. 🍽️🌀

He’s cautious with new people, but never aggressive. Once he trusts you, he becomes a total sweetheart who happily demands pats by shoving his head into your hands. ❤️

Oyitos arrived in Canada in late May and is still learning how to be a dog. He’s even mastered the stairs... mostly. 😅

We estimate he’s around 6 years old, but that’s only a guess. A dog’s teeth can sometimes look older or younger than their actual age, so it’s far from an exact science.

He is heartworm positive and will likely need another year of slow-kill treatment. The rescue will provide four months of medication to get him started.

💔 For some reason, Oyitos never gets any interest.

Maybe people see his past and keep scrolling.

But the hardest part of his journey is already behind him.

Now he just needs someone to give him what every dog deserves: safety, love, and a place to call home. 🏡❤️

UPDATE- Monkey has a foster!

Meet Monkey ☀️

2 years old and permanently smiling, Monkey is pure sunshine in dog form. Her favourite thing? Trotting up to you, gently handing over a paw like a tiny polite queen (see the third picture). No ‘paw’ command needed, she knows how it works. 🤝

She’s been amazing with all her dog siblings at the rescue and hasn’t met a person she doesn’t like yet. When she’s not making friends or playing, you’ll find her living her best life sunbathing on top of on of the crates in the yard (see slide 4) 🐾

We’re pretty sure Monkey once had a home—she’s just too sweet and friendly not to have. She came to us during one of our low-cost spay/neuter clinics from a Good Samaritan who saw her wandering the streets. The intention was to spay her and return her to where she was found. But during recovery, we realized this girl belongs on a couch, not the streets. 🏡

Monkey has been disease tested and is heartworm free. She is spayed, vaccinated and de-wormed. 💉

We feel Monkey could be a great fit into just about any home and is hoping to land one in Vancouver, BC—preferably with lots of love and a sunny spot with her name on it.

Lovely was rescued from the same severe hoarding situation as Guapo, where many cats had been left alone in unsafe conditions for over a week. Despite her difficult start, she has remained incredibly loving and social.

True to her name, Lovely adores people and will happily seek out attention from anyone she meets. She loves lap cuddles, gentle head butts, and spending time with both humans and her fellow cats.

Sweet, affectionate, and full of love to give, Lovely will make a wonderful companion in just about any home.

Noche was found near our rescue during a spay and neuter clinic, injured and bleeding from his mouth. When he was brought in for care, the vet discovered his tongue had been severely cut—but thankfully, it was successfully repaired.

After everything he’s been through, Noche proved he was never meant for life on the streets. He’s incredibly sweet and just wants to be close to people.

Noche is a cuddly lap lover who enjoys playtime, gets along well with other cats, and has a friendly, affectionate personality. Resilient and full of love, he’s ready to find a safe and happy forever home.e

Guapo’s journey began with a rescue from a difficult hoarding situation after his owner was hospitalized. By the time we arrived, the house had been untouched for a week. We discovered many cats living in unsafe and cleary neglected conditions.

Despite his past, Guapo is a gentle, kind-hearted boy who is slowly learning to trust and enjoy the comforts of a loving home. He can be a little shy at first, but once he feels safe, his sweet personality shines through. Guapo is curious and playful, always interested in exploring his surroundings and engaging in a fun toy session.

He especially loves gentle head scratches and nothing makes him happier than curling up for a long, peaceful nap on his favorite cozy blanket.
With a bit of patience and love, Guapo will make a wonderful, loyal companion.

Selva was abandoned just days after giving birth, found with her newborn kittens in a box in the jungle. Thankfully, she and her babies were rescued and brought to safety. Her kittens have all been adopted, but Selva is still waiting for her own happy ending.

She’s a small, gentle girl who loves soft pats and quiet affection. Sweet, curious and resilient, Selva is ready to finally have a loving home to call her own. ❤️
