Before we know it temperatures will be dropping. No worries though, we have a 70 feet x 150 feet indoor riding arena that lets in natural lighting and is covered by 3" of equestrian sand from Shaw Resources. The indoor is reserved for boarders only (we're not a lesson barn) so booking riding time is not required. At Arbour Ridge our indoor ring is available 24/7 for our boarders to use and is never reserved for anything else.

Boarding at a facility with an indoor offers significant advantages for horse and owner:

~Year round riding
~Better footing
~Safety
~Extended training opportunities
~Comfortable environment
~Social interaction
(Just to name a few)

Having access to an indoor riding arena is a valuable feature that ensures your riding and training goals are achievable regardless of the season, while keeping your horse safe and comfortable. Don’t ever let the weather stop you from getting out and enjoying your time with your horse.

As a boarding facility we understand that every horse has unique needs and their diet plays a crucial role in their health, happiness, and performance. That's why we feel that it is important to have multiple types of hay to accommodate each horse. No two horses are the same after all.

Some of the varieties we grow are first and second cut Tiimothy, first, second, and third cut Legume Hay, and also a mixture of the two. We also make our own dry hay and haylage. Each hay type is analyzed at the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture lab, with results posted each season.

Whether your horse is an easy or hard keeper, thoroughbred or warm blood, a senior who needs softer forage, a performance horse requiring a high-energy diet, or even a pony prone to weight gain, etc. we have a hay type that’s right for them. In Nova Scotia we also experience huge swings in temperatures, especially in the winter time. Having multiple feeding options is great for a horses care and well being during the changing seasons.

Because at Arbour Ridge, every horse deserves a tailored approach to nutrition. 🐴🌿✨

Our hot summers allow for the quick growth of algae when troughs are not cleaned properly and water is left stagnant for too long.

Providing clean fresh water is the best way to prevent algae from growing. In small amounts algae can turn the water green and produce a bad smell turning your horse off from drinking. In larger amounts, algae can make your horse very sick. To make sure this doesn’t happen we use an automatic watering system called The Drinking Post and every single paddock has one. Water is kept moving and never left stagnant. The post fills as the horse drinks when they’re done the water drains out. Never leaving water sitting.

Maximizing water intake is one of our top priorities so each horse has access to clean water 24/7. Each post provides always fresh and also never frozen 12 degree water. And! There’s no problem if your horse isn’t accustom to this set up. It takes no time at all for them to get used to it.
