🎉 NEW IN-HOUSE EQUINE BLOOD TESTING! 🐴

We’re excited to announce that we can now test ACTH and insulin at both Fundy Veterinarians locations, providing faster results while helping reduce costs.

🔬 ACTH – Investigating PPID (Equine Cushing’s Disease)
Testing is especially important for older horses, particularly those with a long or curly coat, muscle loss, abnormal fat deposits, increased thirst or urination, or a history of laminitis.

🔬 Insulin – Investigating insulin dysregulation and Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS)

Testing may benefit easy keepers, overweight horses and ponies, horses with a cresty neck or abnormal fat deposits, and any horse with current or previous laminitis.

🐎 Should your horse have both tests?
Older horses with laminitis, unexplained weight or muscle changes, or suspected endocrine disease may benefit from testing both ACTH and insulin. PPID and insulin dysregulation can occur together, and identifying both helps guide appropriate management.

Why test? Both conditions can increase the risk of laminitis — a painful, potentially devastating disease that can threaten long-term soundness and quality of life.

Early detection helps us develop management plans to protect your horse’s comfort and health.

💙 Ask your veterinarian whether endocrine testing is appropriate for your horse!
