👀🐾 ME & THE EYEBALLS! 🐾👀

🔴 Not every red eye is an infected eye!

When it comes to your pet's eyes, appearances can be deceiving! What looks like a simple eye infection could actually be something much more serious.

Take this eye, for example! 👁️

This patient has UVEITIS — inflammation inside the eye.

But how do we know? 🔍

At Roncesvalles Animal Hospital, a proper eye examination involves several important diagnostic tests:

💧 STT (Schirmer Tear Test): Measures tear production to check for dry eye.

🟢 IOP (Intraocular Pressure): Measures the pressure inside the eye. This is especially important when investigating uveitis or glaucoma.

🟠 FDT (Fluorescein Dye Test): Helps identify scratches or ulcers on the cornea.

🔬 Slit-Lamp Examination: Allows us to examine the different structures of the eye in detail and look for signs of inflammation or other abnormalities.

These tests help us understand WHAT is happening, WHY it may be happening, and WHAT treatment is appropriate.

Because treating every red eye with antibiotic drops is not always the answer! Some eye conditions require very different treatments, and choosing the wrong medication can make things worse.

🐾 NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!

We mentioned that this patient has UVEITIS.

🤔 But do you know what the UVEA is?

Is it a part of the eye? A disease? Or something else entirely?

👇 Tell me what you think in the comments! No Googling! 😉 Let's see how much our pet parents know about eyeballs!

❤️ Because understanding your pet's health starts with asking questions!

👆 BOOP THE NOSE! 🐾
We may be a veterinary hospital, but we are also professional nose boopers. 😂
Big noses, tiny noses, pink noses, black noses, dog noses, cat noses—and apparently even hamster and frog noses! If it’s boopable, we want to see it. ❤️
Your turn, Roncy! Comment “BOOP!” 👆 and then show us your pet’s most boopable nose in the comments. Bonus points for an outrageously close-up photo. 😂📸
We’ll start with a few of our favourites… now let’s fill the comments with noses!
BOOP! 👆🐶🐱🐹🐸

🐾 Meet Tiger Guinness! 🖤

Tiny kitten, BIG personality! 😻 Tiger Guinness came to visit us and clearly knew exactly when to strike a pose. That little tongue, those big curious eyes, and all that fluffy black fur—we couldn’t resist! 🐈‍⬛

We love getting to know our patients as they grow, especially when their personalities are already this big. 💙

Welcome to the RAH family, Tiger Guinness!
