Meet Sunny, our October Dog of the Month! This spirited little terrier came to after being surrendered to a shelter following a biting incident, earning him the playful nickname “Landshark.” Since then, he’s been getting a fresh start with a loving foster family, a much-needed groom (pictured), and some extra support to help build his confidence.

Sunny can be nervous around unfamiliar people and situations, but once he feels comfortable, he’s incredibly loyal and affectionate. His foster describes him as a clever little shadow who loves his daily walks and curling up on the couch with his people. 🐾

Building confidence takes practice (and a little motivation)! That’s why a portion of Sunny’s daily meals is set aside for training. With a delicious rotation of Classic Pork Stew, Italian Beef Pasta Dinner, and Berry Beefy Breakfast Bowl, he’s getting complete and balanced nutrition to fuel his mind and body while he learns. 🥣

Sunny is looking for an experienced adopter who can provide the patience, structure, and consistency he needs. A quieter home is ideal, and any children in the household must be at least 16 years old.

5 year old Tobi joined Mattie's Place in July when his owner was going through a bit of a bumpy streak in life and also recently developed an allergy to Tobi.

Tobi is a really great dog and it took all of about 2 seconds for his foster family to fall in love with him. But we always want to make sure dogs settle in and we're not seeing anything medical or behaviour show up as they settle in, so rushing to adoption for a foster is often slowed.

Tobi had a much needed dental completed with multiple extractions. He also got his vaccines up to date and all the basic deworming and parasite prevention on board.

He has remained a consistent companion and a very good boy in foster care.

No teeth? No problem. 🩵

Meet Winnifred, our September Dog of the Month! She arrived at an Ontario shelter as a stray with a very yucky mouth. At the end of August, welcomed her into their care to get some much-needed dental work.

Although Winnie is now toothless, she continues to have strong opinions when it comes to what she eats. That’s right, Winnie is a picky eater, exclusively enjoying our Thai Coconut Chicken & Rice Recipe and Kangaroo meals (but only when served warm — not hot). 😂

Thankfully, our soft, gently-cooked meals are perfect for her. Not only are they delicious and easy to eat without teeth, but they also provide her with complete and balanced nutrition so she can continue to thrive in her senior years!

For an older girl, Winnie is still pretty active. She’s been known to hop around in excitement for a long walk when she sees her harness come out. 🐾 And when she’s not out exploring, you can find her enjoying a well-deserved nap.
