What a beautiful day spent with these lovely pups! ☀️🐾
We enjoyed some fresh air in the yard while working on desensitization, listening, and watching the airshow practices overhead. ✈️ The pups stayed calm, happy, and relaxed while getting lots of positive reinforcement for their great choices. 💕👏
We also had some new visitors brighten up our day—and, of course, plenty of fun watching the poodles do their thing! 🐩😂
Another wonderful day of learning, exploring, and enjoying time together! 🐶💛

All her hard work has paid off — she’s officially a Certified Dog Trainer! 🎉🐶 Clicker Training & Walks
She has such a natural way with dogs, and watching her work with little Milou has made me so proud. She’s patient, kind, knowledgeable, and truly amazing at what she does.
Congratulations, Devany! You’ve worked so hard for this, and I couldn’t be prouder of you! ❤️🐾

🐾 A Day Full of Fun, Confidence & Adventure! 🐾
Our pups had such a wonderful day building confidence, exploring, and enjoying all the little things that make daycare so much fun! 💕🐶
From sniffing around in the ball pit for treats and sharing their little treasures, to running through tunnels, splashing in the pool, lounging on the porch, playing ball, and enjoying time with their friends—there was something for everyone! 🎾💦🐾
This is what structured play and Puppy Day School is all about: learning, exploring, socializing, building confidence, and having FUN along the way! 🥰🐕✨

A spin might look like a fun party trick, but there’s a lot happening underneath it.

Following a lure in a full circle asks a dog to understand and control their body in a way most everyday movement never does.

It’s one of the simplest ways to build coordination, flexibility, and confidence, especially for a dog who’s still learning how their own body moves through space.

In this video, I start with the lure right at nose height, and let the movement follow the hand in a slow circle.

Once the pattern clicks, that same motion becomes the cue itself, so eventually, a verbal or visual signal is enough; a treat is required to get the body moving. It also teaches that turning and engaging with me is rewarding on its own; that idea carries over into a lot of handling and positioning work later on.

All in all, the spin technique is about waiting for a cue, then using new muscles and new confidence to follow through. This is a big part of what real mental stimulation looks like for a dog.

This is part one of a two part series on movement based exercises that build focus and confidence.

Next week, we will cover the centre technique, which teaches your dog to find a calm and connected spot right between your legs.

It’s things like this and more that we teach in our Puppy Training classes.

She’ll take her time sizing you up. But once Indy decides she likes you, you’re hers for life.

This week, we’re celebrating something extra special, Indy just turned 10 with us this year.

Indy is shy at first. She’s the kind of dog who watches from the sidelines before she decides you’re worth her time.

But give her a minute and her real personality comes out: opinionated, a little stubborn, and completely unbothered by what anyone else thinks she should be doing.

Walk into the shop any day and you’ll find her in her spot, perched on the back of the couch like she owns the place (she basically does).

Don’t let the pose fool you though, this girl can walk for miles. If her afternoon walk doesn’t go as far as she’d like, she puts the brakes on and stubbornly pulls toward the longer route until she gets her way.

That fast little trot she breaks into when she’s happy says everything you need to know about her.

The rest of her days consist of simple pleasures: sniffing every corner of the backyard, a good sunbathe, and treats, though she is famously picky when it comes to actual meals.

Her best buds, Lexi and Samantha, share the back-of-the-couch throne with her, and every summer, Indy comes back for camp; she’s always the easiest, most well mannered little houseguest we could ask for.

Ten years of stubborn walks, quiet trust, and that same favourite spot on the couch.

We love you, Indy.
