CT and MRI scans both help us see what’s happening beneath the surface, but they each provide different types of information.

Knowing the difference can help you better understand the diagnostic tools available for your pet’s care.

Dr. Jeff built PetNation around a simple idea: that exceptional care and genuine partnerships between veterinary care providers and pet families should happen under the same roof.🐾

What many people may not know, is that he has become one of Canada’s most experienced veterinarians in the treatment of FIP, with a track record of treating 700 FIP-positive cats.🐈‍⬛

Through ongoing research, innovation and data-driven compassionate care, Dr. Jeff has helped redefine what is possible for cats once considered untreatable.

Want to meet Dr. Jeff and the PetNation team? Call 1 (833) 467-3846 or email [email protected] to book your pet’s next appointment.

You’ve probably heard the terms “pet dental” or “dental cleaning” before. But so much more goes into caring for your pet’s teeth and oral health.

A cosmetic or anesthesia-free cleaning may make teeth look clean, but it can’t provide a complete assessment or properly clean below the gumline — where periodontal disease develops.

That’s why our veterinary team performs a Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment (COHAT) which allows us to thoroughly assess and treat what’s happening both above and below the gumline.

A COHAT can include:

• A complete oral examination
• Periodontal probing and charting
• Full-mouth dental X-rays to assess tooth roots and surrounding bone
• Scaling above and below the gumline
• Polishing
• Treatment of periodontal disease
• Extraction of painful or diseased teeth when necessary.

When left untreated, dental disease can progress to chronic pain, infection, gum and bone loss, loose or missing teeth, tooth-root abscesses and other complications. Periodontal disease can also have effects beyond the mouth and impact your pet’s overall health.

A healthy, pain-free mouth is always the goal. Call 1 (833) 467-3846 or email [email protected] to book a dental health assessment or to learn more.🦷🐾

Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of your pet’s internal organs and soft tissues.

Depending on what we’re investigating, it can help us assess:

• Organ size, shape and internal structure
• The liver, spleen, kidneys, bladder and gastrointestinal tract
• Abnormal masses, nodules or changes in tissue
• Free fluid within the abdomen
• Changes in the stomach or intestinal walls
• Blood flow when Doppler ultrasound is used

In an urgent care or emergency setting, ultrasound can give us valuable information in real time, helping us determine the most appropriate next steps for your pet.
