Spring is here! With warmer weather returning, it’s time to watch for fleas and ticks.

Ticks become active once temperatures reach 0°C and will quickly look for an animal to feed on, making our pets easy targets. Ticks can transmit diseases such as Lyme disease. Fleas can also spread parasites like tapeworms, and once a flea infestation starts, it takes at least 3 months of treatment to clear.

Our clinic offers several flea and tick preventatives for dogs and cats. New this year, we also have an injectable flea and tick preventative that provides 12 months of protection for dogs. Dogs using this option will still require heartworm prevention during the summer months. Please feel free to ask us about the new injectable!
