We have emergency hours on this Labour Day long weekend, starting tonight from 7 p.m. to midnight, on Saturday from 2 p.m. to midnight, on Sunday from 8 a.m. to midnight and on Labour Day Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If your exotic pet needs urgent care, please call us at 416-223-1165. We wish you and your pets a healthy Labour Day weekend!

No need to adjust your screen - we can assure you that you aren't seeing double. This terrific twosome is made up of our patients Charlie and Eddie the conures, who spent some time boarding with us. These BFFs are back at home with their family now, and we have no doubt that they are doing as much snuggling together at home as they did at our clinic. We enjoyed having you with us, Charlie and Eddie, and we thank you for choosing to stay at our clinic!

"I am Zeus! Listen to meeeee!" This is our patient Zeus the cinnamon dilute green-cheeked conure. And while he may have a commanding presence that matches his intimidating name, he is a real softie at heart. Zeus recently spent some time boarding at our clinic and he loves head scritches and was always more than happy to cuddle with our staff. Thank you for staying with us, Zeus! We are already looking forward to seeing you again!

We are bidding a fond farewell to our patient Rosie the bunny, who spent some time boarding at our clinic. She is back at home with her family now and is ready to welcome September! During her time with us, Rosie loved her morning walks - so much so, that she would binky every time. Rabbits express their happiness with a binky, which describes the move when they jump and flick their feet and twist their heads. Thank you for staying with us, Rosie, and may your September be full of binkies!

Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, which is a day to honour the memories of our beloved pets. We have emergency hours on this Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day and all weekend long, starting tonight from 7 p.m. to midnight, on Saturday from 2 p.m. to midnight and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to midnight. Please call our clinic at 416-223-1165 if your exotic pet needs urgent care.

If have been to our clinic either this week or last, you may have seen a new face amongst us. We have had the pleasure of having veterinary student Lana at our clinic for a two-week externship.

Lana was born in Serbia, but was raised right here in Toronto. She is about to head back to the University of Guelph to start her final year at the Ontario Veterinary College, and is looking forward to graduating in April 2027.

Lana says she chose our clinic for her externship because her top interests in veterinary medicine are exotics, zoos and wildlife. She says she enjoys the breadth and variety of cases seen in exotic animal medicine, which makes every day different and exciting. Lana adds that she loves seeing the commitment people have to their exotic pets, and getting to experience their bond is very special.

During her time with us, Lana says she enjoyed getting lots of exposure to various kinds of exotic animal surgeries. She also appreciates our passionate and knowledgeable staff, who are excited to share their cases and teach.

Thank you for choosing to do your externship at our clinic, Lana! It was a pleasure having you with us and we wish you a very successful final year at OVC!

We are bidding a fond farewell to Maui - not the Hawaiian island, but our patient Maui the green-cheeked conure! Maui spent some time boarding at our clinic, but is back home with his family. While he was with us, Maui would get very excited each morning and do his airplane wings while watching the veterinary assistants prepare his breakfast. Thank you for choosing to stay at our clinic, Maui. It was a pleasure having you with us and we look forward to seeing you again!

We are wishing our patient Ozzie the Senegal parrot a very Happy Birthday! She turned 26 yesterday and we celebrated her big day at our clinic with a special for her. Happy Birthday to you, Ozzie! We wish you many more years of good health and happiness!
