David Bowie famously sang of a starman waiting in the sky, and - if that's the case - our patient Bowie the hamster would love to meet him! That's because Bowie is super social, active and adventurous. Her family sent us a photo of Bowie at home where it looks like she is patiently waiting for the starman to come and meet her.

You can see more adventures of Bowie and her siblings on their very own Instagram account at https://www.instagram.com/psspetss/

The second Tuesday of June is World Pet Memorial Day - a day to honour the memories of our beloved family members who have crossed The Rainbow Bridge.

For people who have experienced pet loss, every day is World Pet Memorial Day. After all, it's difficult to forget the joy, comfort and unconditional love that comes with having pets in the family.

If you need pet loss support, you can find a list of resources in the "Links" section of our web site: https://thelinksroadanimalclinic.com/links/. Please scroll down to the "Pet Loss" section.

If you are a client of our clinic and have a pet who has passed away, you can post a tribute on the "In Memoriam" page of our web site: https://thelinksroadanimalclinic.com/in-memoriam-2/.

If you know someone who has recently lost a pet, please know that they are likely grieving deeply and will need your kindness, empathy and support.

"What's that you say? June's Animal of the Month is the hedgehog? Well, I am here for it!" Our patient Goober the hedgehog was super excited to hear that hedgehogs are our featured creatures this month when he came to our clinic for a routine appointment with our Dr. Palmer. She says Goober is friendly and was easy to handle during his exam and he did very well!

Attention everyone! We have a notice of a lost bird to report today. Maxine the African grey parrot went missing from the Scott Street and Drummond Road area of Niagara Falls on May 30th. Maxine is fully flighted and could anywhere. If you see Maxine and can secure her, please move slowly, speak gently and try to lure her with treats. She loves grapes and apples. Maxine also responds to whistles and clicks. If you see Maxine, please call 905-351-8125. Let's help get Maxine home to her family!

"Hello! My name is Rita! What's yours?" Our patient Rita the hamster came to our clinic for a routine check-up with our Dr. Julia, who says that Rita is one of the friendliest hamsters she has ever seen. Rita was also more than happy to have her photo taken while she charmed everyone she met in our clinic.

This little one is our patient Sharpay the hedgehog. She is just three-months-old and came in to see our Dr. Julia for her very first exam. And even though this was Sharpay's first time seeing the doctor, she is already a pro at it. Sharpay is friendly and inquisitive, and she got comfy and cozy during her time at our clinic. Sharpay was also really excited to hear that hedgehogs are our Animal of the Month for June!

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Henry Street High School in nearby Whitby, Ontario for donating a bank of lockers to our clinic. Henry Street had renovations done recently and they kindly donated some old lockers that we could repurpose for our staff. As you can see by the before and after photos, our own Dr. Evan spruced them up with paint and the clinic logo and they are all ready for use. Many thanks from all of us at the clinic to Henry Street for your kind donation!
