It was a truly lovely and relaxing weekend for me in Slovakia: a perfect “three-in-one” experience. On Saturday, I had the pleasure of judging the club show for spaniels and water dogs, followed by an engaging evening lecture on the English Springer Spaniel. Then on Sunday, we continued with a hands-on grooming workshop.
Interestingly, this club does not include English or American Cocker Spaniels, which made it even more surprising to learn they have over 200 members , an impressive number! I spent the weekend surrounded by beautiful vineyards, which added to the incredibly calm and welcoming atmosphere.
The entire experience was filled with amazing energy, great company, and genuine hospitality. I had the chance to meet a wonderful mix of club officials from experienced show breeders and dedicated hunters to enthusiastic newcomers, all of whom were kind, open, and incredibly welcoming. Without a doubt, this was some of the best hospitality I’ve experienced in my judging career.
In the Best in Show lineup, my BIS went to a lovely Lagotto (who, I believe, was also my Junior class winner in Brno last year), with Reserve going to a Cao de Agua Español, and third place to a Cao de Agua Português.
This was a combined event both a club show and a breeding show .All dogs were measured after judging by my colleague judge from the Czech Republic.
Overall, it was a wonderfully fulfilling and happy weekend, surrounded by lovely people and beautiful dogs. My heartfelt thanks to Adriana, the club committee, and all the members for such a memorable experience. Adriana Vavreková
