For the first time, I found the courage to compete at the World Grooming Competition in Belgium. 🇧🇪

What started as “I’ll just go and watch” turned into actually stepping into the ring and competing alongside some of the world’s most talented groomers.

Every competitor was incredibly talented, and seeing the passion, dedication, and hard work behind this industry was truly inspiring.

One of the greatest gifts of this journey was meeting so many groomers and educators I’ve admired for years.

And the most unforgettable moment — watching Groom Team Canada become WORLD CHAMPIONS! 🇨🇦🏆

Being there in person, feeling that excitement and pride, was something words simply cannot describe.

Proud to be a Canadian groomer.
Proud of Groom Team Canada. 🇨🇦❤️

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who trusted us with their wonderful dogs for this competition. Thank you for your trust, and thank you to these sweet and amazing dogs for making this experience possible. 🐶❤️

Grateful for the dogs, grateful for grooming, and grateful for this unforgettable journey. ❤️

Another comfortable way to trim your pet’s nails! 🐾✂️

Sometimes, simply changing the position can help your pet feel more relaxed and make nail trimming much easier. Pet parents, give this position a try at home! ❤️

🐶 Why Does My Dog Shake at the Groomer? Let’s Talk About It.Have you ever dropped your dog off for grooming and noticed them trembling, pulling back, or suddenly refusing to walk through the door?

It can be upsetting to see — and as pet parents, it’s natural to wonder:

“Why is my dog so scared?”
“Did something happen here?”

But shaking at the groomer doesn’t automatically mean that your dog has been treated badly. There are many reasons dogs may feel nervous during grooming.🐾 1. They can feel your emotions
Dogs are incredibly sensitive to our body language and emotions. If we become nervous, hold them tightly, or use a worried voice, they may think, “Something must be wrong.”

🛁 2. Bath time
Some dogs simply don’t enjoy being wet, handled, or bathed — even when it’s completely safe.

💨 3. The dryer
Professional dryers can be loud and powerful. The sound and sensation can feel overwhelming, especially for dogs that aren’t used to them.

✂️ 4. Clippers & scissors
The sound, vibration, and movement around their body can make some dogs uncomfortable or confused.

🐾 5. Nail trimming
For many dogs, paws are sensitive! Nail trims are one of the most common parts of grooming that dogs dislike.

❤️ 6. They’re dogs — they don’t understand why we’re doing it!
They don’t know that bathing, drying, brushing, nail trimming, and grooming are helping keep their skin, coat, paws, and body comfortable and healthy.

A good groomer watches your dog’s body language, works at an appropriate pace, and gives breaks when needed. Our goal isn’t simply to finish a haircut — it’s to build trust and make each visit a little easier.

And sometimes something funny happens:
A dog may shake dramatically while Mom or Dad is standing there… then settle down shortly after they leave. 😄🐶

💬 Now we’d love to hear from you:

Does your dog shake when they arrive at the groomer?
What do YOU think makes them nervous?
And what has helped your dog become more comfortable?

👇 Let’s talk about it in the comments!

The more pet parents and groomers understand each other, the better experience we can create for our dogs. ❤️🐾
