Let's talk about corn!

It's corn on the cob season, and though it's so delicious, corn cobs can be very dangerous for your pet. They do not break down in the stomach (and as such become a foreign body). This can lead to a blockage in your pet's intestines which requires emergency surgery.

It's National Check the Chip Day!

Microchipping your pet can help get them home to you in the event that they are lost. A microchip is a permanent ID chip placed under your pet's skin. If your pet is lost, shelters and vets can check the ID number with a special scanner and help reunite you with your pet.

It's also important to change your contact information with your microchip registry if you move!

Spotlight on Dr. Sarah!

She was born and raised in Toronto. She attended the Ontario Veterinary College, where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. After graduation, she worked in Sarnia in general practice for almost 7 years. She moved back to Toronto in 2016.

Her professional interests include surgery (including some orthopedic surgeries), feline medicine, chronic pain management, preventive care, dentistry, and ultrasound.

Sarah enjoys playing volleyball, cycling, reading, spending time with family (especially playing board and card games with her daughter), and hanging out with her part-time cat Claire (pictured here).

Spotlight on Dr. Jen!

She loves being a vet. She was born and raised in Toronto, obtained an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at McGill University and then went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 1994.

​Her first 6 years of work experience were in England. She returned to Toronto in 2000 to be with family and friends and started working at an emergency hospital. After two years she began to work in general practice with dogs and cats. She found a love for internal medicine, preventive care, and whole family care.

​She is an avid Blue Jays fan, plays guitar, softball, and loves the great outdoors.
