New puppy parent?
Here’s everything you need to know about your pup’s vaccine schedule, because protection starts early!
🐾
Puppies need 3 rounds of vaccines, given 3–4 weeks apart, beginning around 8 weeks old. This schedule exists because maternal antibodies passed from mom gradually decrease over time, meaning your puppy’s own immune system needs time to step in and take over. Each booster builds stronger, longer-lasting immunity.
Here’s a breakdown of what we’re protecting against:
🔵 DHPP — Covers Distemper (a serious viral illness affecting the nervous system), Hepatitis (liver disease), Parvovirus (a deadly gastrointestinal virus), and Parainfluenza (a respiratory infection).
🟢 Leptospirosis — A bacterial infection spread through contaminated water and wildlife urine that can affect the kidneys and liver — and can even be transmitted to humans.
🟡 Bordetella — Protects against kennel cough, a highly contagious respiratory infection common wherever dogs socialize.
🔴 Rabies — A fatal viral disease that affects the brain and nervous system. Required by law and essential for your pup’s safety and yours.
Every vaccine visit includes a full physical exam. Our doctor will assess your puppy’s overall health before any vaccines are given to ensure they are safe to receive them. These visits are also a great time to discuss nutrition, behavior, parasite prevention, and more!
Skipping or delaying rounds can leave your puppy vulnerable during their most critical window of development. Stay on schedule, and give them the strongest start possible.
