It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Runner, a cherished member of our Timmins & District Humane Society family, who recently passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her, just shy of her 18th birthday.
When Runner was surrendered to us at 15 years old, we made a promise: we would be her family. We knew that finding her a new home at that age might be difficult, so we decided that she would never have to wonder where she belonged. The shelter would be her home, and we would be her people.
For nearly three years, Runner filled our days with her quiet presence and unmistakable personality. She was our greeter, our friend, and, more often than not, the self-appointed supervisor of the shelter. You could usually find her curled up on a desk, watching the world go by and keeping the other cats in line.
She became part of the fabric of our everyday lives. Her familiar face, her favourite spots and her little routines were simply part of what made the shelter feel like home.
Runner may have arrived at our doors needing a second chance, but she left this world knowing she was loved. She had people who cared for her, a place where she belonged, and a family who was honoured to spend her final years by her side. We will miss our girl terribly.
In lieu of cat treats, donations to the Timmins & District Humane Society would be deeply appreciated. Your generosity helps us continue to provide care and homes for those who need it. E-transfers can be made to [email protected] (In Memory of Runner) or by visiting https://www.tdhs.ca/donate-today.
Rest peacefully, Runner. Thank you for letting us be your family. You were loved every single day. ❤️
