When: Sunday September 13th, 2026 (Raindate is the following Sunday)
Start: 9am
Where: Hersey Lake Conservation Area

What? This workshop will cover the gear needed for a variety of fall/spring dog-powered sports, basic techniques to train to help get you started on the right track, and safety considerations for you and your pup. Part discussion, part practical trail experience - this workshop intends to give you enough of the basics for you to start your running adventures with your dog!

I will have all the gear required to get you on the trail that Sunday. I carry a sizing pack for Non-stop Dogwear running harnesses (Freemotion and Nansen Nome), and I also have a "thrift store" of other brands of harnesses that are available for purchase if we can find a good fit for your dog.

$75 for each handler + dog team
Minimum of 3 teams to run the workshop, maximum of 10

Registrants will receive an email with instructions to pay to hold their spot

***Dogs should be in good health and are required to be up to date on their annual vaccinations (rabies, DAPP2).

In celebration of picking up my van from the shop...

I went bikejoring 😎

In addition to changing up my fall schedules, I am also going to commit to running at least one "learn to run with your dog" workshop this fall.

Tentatively Sept 12/13 or 19/20 weekend :)

Things have been tough lately. Between the fall rainy days appearing, managing two vehicles being in and out of the shop for repairs, and my own energy/health - there have been more cancellations than I care to think about.

This is not something that I take lightly.

And so, significant changes will be coming this fall.

To best manage training my own race team, minimizing cancellations, and my work at the Timmins and District Humane Society, I have decided to significantly reduce the number of weekly runs for dog-powered sports through the fall and winter.

By only planning to go out with one group (two teams) per day, I can more easily adjust the runs to go out in the most appropriate temperatures. In the fall, mornings allow us to run in cooler temperatures, but in the winter running in the afternoon means skipping some of those brutally cold mornings (or giving the plow time to clear our access). This means fewer repeated cancellations for dogs who happen to be scheduled in the less ideal window for that season.

It also means that I am asking for a bit more flexibility on the part of you all!

I will be building teams over the next few weeks. I know that I will not be able to fit everyone in, and I apologize for that immensely. My goal will be to get everyone out at least once a week. If you have any concerns about this, or if your plans for your pup are changing for this running season, please reach out.

One of the most common questions I get is "how do you handle so many dogs?"

The answer is in the training, and starting small!

New dogs get one on one sessions, or sessions with experienced dogs first. This way we can work on their skills. As they improve, we add more dogs.

Some dogs need specific walking groups to do well, others can be switched in anywhere without issue.

It's not necessarily a quick process, but it significantly reduces the chaos

So proud of this crew today! It may not look like a lot, but this was a new introduction and some personalities that had the potential to not mesh.

Sometimes you just gotta give it a try. We took it slow and had a few backups in place in case things didn't work out according to plan.

I'll never say none of it was necessary, because I am a "what if" girl. But they made me so proud today 😁

Handsome Finn stopped in recently to be tested as a new group walk recruit!

I see him today and I can barely believe it. I first spotted him at an adoption event back when I was fostering Nova. He was so overstimulated and all over the place - didn't know what to do with himself. But time with a foster worked wonders for him. His new family is also just the best - providing him with everything he needs to thrive!

This type of transformation is exactly the reason why I took a second gig. For those that don't already know, I'm spending part of my days at Timmins and District Humane Society helping to expand the training and enrichment program! Giving dogs like Finn (and so many of my walkers, and my previous fosters) a little bit of a boost through that transition period in their lives.

Dear Rogue,

Yes, that's a piece of liver in my hand. I see you noticed and are not hiding that fact. Don't worry, you'll get plenty πŸ˜†
