Walking Club is BACK for two more nights this September! 🐾🌙 Join us Monday, September 14 & 21 from 6:30–8:00 PM at the Farmers Market Pavilion for our Into the Dusk Neutrality Meet Ups! ⚠️ Please sign up on our website www.thenortherncollarclub.com

These nights are all about giving you and your dog a place to practice real life skills around other dogs and people without the expectation that everyone needs to meet, play or be best friends.

We’ll work on neutrality, engagement, confidence, leash handling and simply learning how to exist calmly in a busy environment. Whether your dog needs a little extra space, gets overly excited around other dogs, or you just want somewhere to practice the skills you’ve been working on this is exactly what Walking Club is for.

These are relaxed, guided meet ups rather than formal training classes. Come for the entire 90 minutes or just part of it! Come earlier while there’s more daylight, or stick around as the sun goes down and give your dog the opportunity to practise in a changing environment. 🌙

And one of my favourite parts? You’re surrounded by other dog owners who are there for the same reason: to learn, practice and build better dogs together. No perfect dogs required. ❤️

Okay… apparently the fur runner permanently upholstered in dog hair, accepting that clean clothes are a temporary luxury, and letting dogs completely take over our lives was exactly where our passion was meant to lead us and honestly… we wouldn’t have it any other way. ❤️

The Northern Collar Club has officially been named a 2026 TimminsToday Reader Favourite! 💛 And this one feels pretty damn special because YOU voted for us.

What started as “hey, Im Chrissy I really love dogs and taking them on adventures” somehow turned into this incredible community, thousands of kilometres on the trails, an impressive amount of mud, questionable amounts of dog hair, training classes, community events, new friendships, and more dogs becoming part of our lives than I could ever count. Somewhere along the way, this became so much bigger than walking dogs.

You’ve trusted us with members of your family. You’ve recommended us to your friends, shared our posts, joined our events, supported our ridiculous ideas, cheered us on and continued showing up for us year after year. And apparently, you also voted for us. A LOT!!!!!!! 🥹

So from Jesse, me, Kalon, Millie and the entire TNCC crew, THANK YOU. Seriously. We wouldn’t be here without the incredible people (and dogs) who have supported us, trusted us and allowed this little idea to grow into everything it is today.

And a huge congratulations to The Wizard of Paws Inc. on being named Runner Up! We love seeing another local dog business getting some well deserved love from our community!

Here’s to more adventures, more training, more dogs, more community, more questionable decisions involving mud… and absolutely no reduction in the amount of dog hair in my vehicle.

I wish I had the funds to build a rehabilitation centre where dogs can be rehabilitated, filled with love, structure, and the lives they all deserve 🥺❤️

Yesterday was… so so. And by “so so,” I mean after months of dreaming about sitting peacefully beside a campfire, decompressing in the woods and reconnecting with nature, I ended the evening hiding inside the tent FROM NATURE.

The same tent, I should mention…that should have been replaced approximately two summers ago. We knew this. We discussed this. We physically looked at the holes and rips and somehow collectively decided, “Nah. She’s got another season in her.”

This entire trip started as an exercise of perseverance. Before it even started I was bedridden sick for a week. Then our original camping trip got cancelled because of bears. Then we forgot Kalon’s food and had to turn around and trek back. Then we crossed Lake Huron on a ferry that turned into an unexpected desensitization session for dogs who apparently don’t appreciate giant boats screaming at them as we didn’t realize when it’s foggy it goes off every 5-10 minutes.

We get to the spot, get the the fire going…And then came the spiders……Millie started shaking like she had something on her, so I was inspecting her when I happened to look down at my arm. Spider…Fine. We’re camping. There are bugs... I smacked it, looked at Jesse and said, “Well… that thing is DEFINITELY dead.”

This was a mistake. Apparently the spider had family. Within 30 minutes, the Daddy Long Legs Council had assembled, reviewed the evidence and declared war. They were EVERYWHERE. So Day 1 ended with me hiding inside our already compromised tent. Usually bugs don’t bother me, but dozens of daddy long legs on me and my dogs is apparently my threshold 😂

BUT TODAY WAS A NEW DAY. It was 27°C. Felt like 37°C. Perfect weather for sleeping outdoors while battling a respiratory infection. 👌

So we woke up invested in some comfort infrastructure. We acquired a longer extension cord , a fan for the tent and more cold medication. At this point, we’re basically glamping. Next year I’ll probably bring a chandelier.

Then we took the dogs to the lake and stayed there for MOST of the day because when it feels like 37°C, you don’t hike. You become aquatic. And honestly? This was the vacation we ordered. Dogs swimming. Us swimming. Everyone cooling off. Kalon and Millie having the absolute time of their lives.

And somewhere between swimming with the dogs, laughing until our stomachs hurt and watching these two have the BEST day, all the ridiculousness suddenly felt worth it. Because that’s really why we drag ourselves and half our belongings into the wilderness in the first place.

The dogs don’t care that the tent has holes. They don’t care that their mother is heavily medicated. They don’t know we spent $45 on wood that has the burning capabilities of a cucumber. They don’t care about construction, spiders or the fact that we’ve basically built a small electrical grid through the campsite just so I can sleep beside a fan. They do however care about ferry horns 😂

They’re just happy. They’re swimming. They’re exploring. They’re with us. And apparently that’s enough to make us forget yesterday and start planning the next camping trip before this one is even over. 😂❤️

So tonight we’re back at camp. Dogs exhausted. Humans exhausted. Cold meds administered. Fan blasting. Absolute. Luxury. Yesterday felt like we were surviving our vacation. Today actually felt like we were ON one.

Day 2: 9/10.

Would’ve been 10/10, but I saw another Daddy Long Legs when we got back to camp. The ceasefire has been violated. We ride at dawn. 🕷️⚔️😂

Okay, we’ve been away for approximately five minutes and we’re already experiencing dog withdrawal. We miss the happy faces. The trail adventures. The goofy personalities. The excited little noises. And especially those FULL BODY WIGGLES when they realize it’s adventure day. 🥹

So while The Northern Collar Club crew is off getting some much needed R&R, we need you to help fill the animal shaped hole in our hearts!!
