Somehow Violet grew up this summer and is now looking like a full grown mare, and a stunning one at that!
Little Miss "I'm terrified of dear" has been on the back burner this summer, but now that the riding arena is more-or-less a riding arena once again, she's going to go back to work. My goal is to have her "going under saddle" by winter, and once she's proven herself as a riding mare she will transition into a broodmare career.
Unfortunately since she has injured every single one of her legs, the chances of her being performance sound are on the lower side, but we will still get her ridden and see how far we can go.

Very correct and athletic c**t by Shining In Town out of the mare Shesa Concealed Gun (Colonels Smoking Gun X Hollywood Dun It)
Shining In Town has NRHA earnings in excess of $226,000 and was the 2019 NRHA Non Pro Derby Champion in the levels 1, 2, 3, and 4. His sire, Hollywoodtinseltown, is a $4Million sire and has countless NRHA Champion and Reserve Champion titles.
Briar's papers boast some other legendary names including Hollywood Dun It on both the top and bottom of his papers, who is an NRHA Hall of Fame sire, was the first stallion to become a $4Million NRHA sire, and has since become a $6Million sire.

Today was a unique day where I got to wear a bunch of different hats.

I started the day getting my kids ready and off to daycare, wearing my mother hat.

I fed horses, checked over Benny and updates his surgeon, and lunges Vegas, wearing my equestrian hat.

I went to work at the library, wearing my library manager hat.

I texted with an old colleague about coming to locum at my old clinic, wearing my RVT hat.

And now I'm on a combine, harvesting our peas, wearing my grain farmer hat.

It was a busy day, but kind of a fun one 🤠

After Tuesday Benny is good to start hand walking, so bringing him out for some photos should be doable. And Briar is hanging on to just a bit of baby fuzz that will hopefully be gone soon 🤞🏻 they're both looking so nice, it's a shame neither of them will stay this color

Mr Crooked Legs is nearly 2 weeks post op and doing great, although he's not a fan of a) being kept to limited exercise and b) weaning. He gets quite lonely at times, but he always has his momma, Grace, close by for comfort.

In a few days we will take his bandage off and leave it off, as long as everything is looking good. And he will get to go for some walks as well.

This little guy just grew so darn fast his legs look like they were made out of spare parts. He's not the most "correct" dude to look at for now, but we are hopeful that the screw will correct his problem leg, and the rest will fall into place as he grows and matures. Functionally, the fetlock with the screw is the only concern for performance and longevity, so as long as we can get enough correction before that growth plate matures he shouldn't have any issues down the line.

Vegas and I braved the 30° heat to get some video today. Every time I ride this mare I get her a bit more figured out, but I haven't ridden a show horse since 2018 and since my car accident, so I'm terribly out of practice and not making her look as pretty as she can look. But she still humors me ❤️
