Hi there everyone, it's been a while!

I just wanted to announce that for the summer, I will be dog walking again! I won't continue into the fall as I'm returning to school for a new program, but I'd love to take advantage of the summertime and help people get their pets moving!

However, I have moved out to Taber, and will be accepting clients in Taber at this time.

Please feel free to share with your friends and family who may live in Taber. I look forward to meeting everyone and their dogs!

Hello everyone! Walkies YQL will be taking time off until spring to take care of my health! I’ve had a few small things add up that need some TLC before I can get back into dog walking. I’ve been missing my clients loads already and can’t wait for spring so I can get back to it!

We’ve been busy here all summer so far keeping your pups busy (and cool), which has been a ton of fun for myself and the dogs!

Can I say though, what a beautiful week it was for some dog walkies! Including some awesome spots to roll in the grass, and sometimes a swim or two! 😊

Let’s talk about Sniff Walks, also known as Decompression Walks!

When I take your pups out for a walk, it’s their time! I use long leads (if the owner is comfortable) and allow the pup to spend as much time sniffing out the area as possible. Phatty, pictured here, spent her hour with me Friday morning exploring all of the smells in the neighbourhood on a 20ft long lead.

Decompression/sniff walks are excellent for giving your dog both physical and mental stimulation. It allows your pup to decompress, relax, and just enjoy their time just being a dog! This is also what we would call enrichment, because dogs can smell A LOT of things that we as humans couldn’t even dream of! Not only that, long-lead walks overall have massive benefits in training as well. The ability for a dog to walk ahead 20-50ft, then practice recall without having them off leash is an amazing tool that even I use when walking. It teaches leash pressure easier as well, allowing your dog to really feel the difference between a loose leash and recognize the subtle pressure of being too far. It also allows the dog to choose to interact with you, and I myself always have a tasty treat on hand to reward check-ins , recall, or even walking nicely by my side if they so choose. (Bonus: the dog learns to associate you with high-value rewards for their focus, and are more likely to pay attention to you because of this).

Decompression/sniff walks can also have benefits with scared/nervous dogs. They allow the dog the choice of going to see what’s going on (or avoid it), and allows them to really sniff it out and go at their own pace. Due to using a longer lead as well, there is never usually tension on the lead that so often causes tension in the dog too. Of course we may have random moments where we must walk past a deer, or people and their own dogs.. but this allows us to effectively work again on recall, giving nervous dogs space, even teaching dogs that they have the space and means to move away from something they don’t want to interact with!

Dogs love their decompression/sniff walks, and I adore them too! Nothing feels better than just relaxing, taking a stroll and enjoying the nice areas in the city.

Happy Friday!

Let me introduce you all to my first official clients, Bowie and Sam! They have been my faithful friends since February!
Bowie is a true husky, a hint of stubborn but an absolute love for treats! He very much enjoys his walks for the snacks he gets, and his favourite game is foraging in the grass for treats!
Sam is his older brother, and is absolutely a lap dog even though he’s much too big to fit. He just loves to go on walks and always sticks by my side for extra snacks and a good amount of pets.

They’re an absolutely adorable duo that always give me a very vocal welcome when I pull up to take them for their walks! They adore their walks as much as I adore them too! 🥰

Welcome to Walkies! YQL!

Currently offering dog walking services around the City of Lethbridge. I primarily work with medium to extra large dogs, and have dealt wjth many pullers and reactive dogs as well. I’m happy to chat with you about you and your dogs needs, as my philosophy is every dog deserves a walk! 😊

Availability for Monday to Thursday each week! Walks are $20/hr. This includes me working on leash manners (to help us both enjoy our walk to the best of our ability, and for safety), sniffing games, and overall mental stimulation by lots of what is called a “sniff walk”. We work on structure and manners, but this is your pups time to have an amazing walk!

Please feel free to message me with any questions, concerns, or otherwise and I’ll be happy to help you! I hope I can help your dog have great Walkies! 🐾

Hello everyone, I’m Chelsea! I’m the face behind what is now called Walkies! YQL.
I wanted to share more about myself, the dogs I grew up with who led me here, and my little fur family (and partner).

I grew up with an amazing German Shepard as the family dog, named Justice. This boy was 120lbs of pure love bug (we sometimes joked he’d greet an intruder.) He was a loyal, kind, gentle giant who froze around kittens so he wouldn’t hurt them, and loved to play with his family (he loved us kids when we were younger). Sadly we had to let him go in January of 2020, but he still inspires me to this day to love any big dog I come across!
Tru is his younger sister. She’s currently 7 years old, and although raised the same is a fearful & reactive dog. However, she’s made leaps and bounds recently that inspired me to help other dogs if I could, even the reactive ones. She’s the one who reminds me that behind every reactive dog is someone’s baby, an absolute snuggle bug with their people.

My current little fur family consists of a few kitties, a green cheek conure, and two jumping spiders. We also live with family, who’s dog often spends her time demanding cuddles because moms not home (or sleeping).
My kitties range from size extra large to small! Cow is my oldest (black and white), who’s currently 9 and doesn’t look a day over 3! Bentley (white and tan) is a foster fail from LCCR, almost 5 years ago. He came to us as a 3 week old kitten, and I think we both knew he wouldn’t leave my side. Atlas is our youngest at just under a year old (white and grey). He’s small due to being extremely malnourished when he went to my parents, but is strong and healthy now regardless of how small!
Peaches is a young 5 years old, with a lifespan of 20-25! I’ve had him for about 4.5 years now, and as much as he only loves my partner now, we still have some pretty wicked dance parties.

Lastly we have the roommates (and family) dog, Tonka. She’s a hefty girl, a bully/Shepard/husky cross. Her favourite games are chasing bubbles and the laser pointer in the yard!

Welcome to Walkies! YQL, I can’t wait to meet your fur family too 😊
