📣 We have some EXCITING news: we're launching NEW merch! 📣

After months of planning and work (shout out to our amazing merch coordinator Grace), we're ready to share with you our new collection. Whether you're looking for a new t-shirt, a quarter-zip, a crewneck or a cool baseball cap, we've got you covered!

I can't believe I almost forgot to introduce you all to Timon! Super duper sweet, and an amazing house guest, this fine fellow is as great as they come.

Timon has been in our care for a few weeks now and has his dental/neuter coming up this week. He does have a heart murmur so they'll use heart safe protocols to ensure this little man handles it well.

Timon loves toys, people, other animal friends and is a really easy going boy.

And the best part- he's gonna be adoptable soon!

Tomorrow night, a 13 year old pug is coming here. I already love her.

Transparency time: I'm also completely terrified & have paced around my kitchen rubbing my chin, muttering big sighs, and wondering what the heck I'm doing about a million times.

I wish I could say I’m just excited to get her here and give her what she needs, but after everything we’ve been through lately, I’m honestly terrified. This is a whole new feeling for me.

Her shelter photo: I of course think she's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. I feel this way about them all. (Once she's settled you'll get to see her too)

In reality: She was a stray. She’s emaciated. Her skin is in absolutely horrendous condition. She’s unspayed with mamary masses. She needs a really serious dental. She has infections in her skin, eyes and ears. And she’s blind. She did not just somehow get away & walk to where she was found. She needs a lot. I know it's going to be a lot.

She was an instant "A million yeses. Always yes". And then a rush of "what am I doing" followed closely behind.

She deserves to find her happy & to feel truly looked after.

My brain & heart feel like a constant battle at the moment. You CAN help vs oh no- we're going to possibly get hurt again so don't do it.

The struggle here is real.

My brains job is to chat with my heart. Chill the heck out. You've got this 😆.

So look for the good.

I think this is where the little note I keep stuck on my computer screen comes in.

“Today is going to be a good day.”

I look at it every single day. A simple reminder to look for the good. There is ALWAYS good.

The good. Tomorrow she is safe.

Tomorrow she has a name.

Tomorrow she finds unconditional love, has an entire Happy's Place community to wrap around her, and begins a new chapter. Because you help me to say yes ❤️.

And- also while me still being scared. But doing it anyway. I think both can happen.

Open heart. Scared. Ready or not- here she comes.

But first- a name!

There’s something really special about watching a senior dog finally exhale.

When T**i first arrived, he didn’t know yet that he was safe. That he could sleep without worrying. That nobody was going to ask anything of him.

And then, little by little… you see it happen.

The softer eyes. The deeper sleeps. The little tail wags. The curiosity coming back. The personality that was there all along, just waiting for a safe place to come out. 🥹

This is the part of fostering that is almost impossible to put into words.

You don’t just give them a place to stay. You get to watch them remember how good life can feel.

And yes, eventually you have to say goodbye… but getting to be the person who helps a dog like T**i find his way back to himself?

That’s the magic of fostering.

Late morning post today- those storms keep leaving us with lots of intermittent tech abilities.

So here we go!

Oh yorkie fans!!!! Meet 12 year old Rupert.

I know, I know- the tongue 👅.

Rupert is a super gummy fellow with no teeth left. It looks like overtime, this unclaimed stray fellow lost them all via rotting right out. 😢.

He is also not neutered- but sure will be coming up super duper soon.

Shout outs to Freedom Drivers and our shelter partner for working alongside of us to ensure this fabulous fellow got right to where he needed to be.

This week we updated the rest of his vetting and up next- he's ready for his spa day- oh my Rupert, the amazing glow up you're about to have.

This fellow is awesome. Super sweet, super friendly and a lover of all people, cats and other dogs.

He's really beyond perfect in every single way.

Did you know Powerhouse Brewing Co. at 100 Kellogg Lane hosts regular fundraisers for Happy's Place? 🍻

Not only does the brewery allocate a portion of the sales of its Pups of Powerhouse light lager to our rescue, they also have their weekly Dogs for Dogs hot dog promotion (it's such a clever name!), where a portion of proceeds from every hot dog sold goes toward Happy's Place! 🐶🌭

Powerhouse recently sent a generous donation of $1,430.13, in honour of Shanin Wilson. We can't thank them enough for their ongoing support! 💙

Well, it's official! The teeniest of our 3 seniors named Ellie in care- is 100% a foster fail ❤️.

Let's not look at it as a fail- rather- an Ellie was always home and it just took the rest of us longer to realize it 😆.

Ellie's foster, turned forever momma shared this "Ellie glow up" collage of her during her time in care and we gotta say- she just kept getting cuter as she went!

At 10 years old, this wee gal deserves the very best retirement years. Your donations helped to support some of her medical care which included updated vetting, a spay, and a dental too!

Ellie I think we can all shout it loud- we are soooooo very happy for you.
