We had the best time at the Canadian Versatility Ranch Horse Championships! I can’t say enough about how rewarding of an experience it was. Firstly, a huge thanks to Roxanne Sapergia and everyone involved in putting on the show, hiring excellent judges, making sure the obstacles and trail courses were top-notch, organizing cattle practice, gathering sponsors and offering great payouts and prizes! It was enjoyable to compete and be part of. The people who came together for this event were truly fantastic. The atmosphere was supportive and friendly, those who knew more helped those who knew less, making the event really inviting to all levels of riders and horses.
This year I learned a lot about VRH while training and prepping for this event with SMART BLAZE N POCO. I’m very proud of his performance, with consistent high scores in the open division as well as winning multiple classes throughout the week! Judges saw what I see in him — a versatile, enjoyable, willing, and well trained partner, and a high caliber VRH mount.
Ranch Versatility is quickly growing in popularity all over Canada, and for good reason. It’s accessible to many, with classes ranging from Open, to All-Breed and Rookie! It’s a sport that prioritizes good training and horsemanship. The competition requires horses to develop versatile skills, be responsive, as well as behaving in a calm and willing manner. Riders must learn feel, fine control, and smooth communication with their horse while being able to remember and execute patterns precisely.
If you are considering sponsoring an event, this is one of those excellent opportunities to contribute to a sport that’s quickly growing and bringing people together. This past weekend I met many folks from south of the border who made their way up to compete. I know that my calendar will have Canadian Versatility Ranch Horse Championships 2027 on it as soon as those dates are set! I know I’ll be contributing as a sponsor. I know a few of my clients are already looking forward to attending next year’s event as well.
To support this event, I highly recommend contacting Roxanne Sapergia and finding out how you can contribute as a sponsor for 2027. Let’s help make a great event even better!
