🐾🌈 Honouring Charley 🌈🐾

October 26, 2015 – September 9, 2026

“Our Charley was more than a dog; she was the heart and soul of our family, a bright spirit who lived every single day with pure joy and boundless love.”

Charley’s life with her family began on Christmas Eve 2015 — a special “Gotcha Day” that gave them one of the greatest gifts they could ever have received.

She lived a life full of adventure, from walks along the shores of Lake Huron and digging holes in the sand, to running free at the farm and riding through the fields on the six-wheeler.

At home, her yard was her kingdom, where she kept careful watch for any cheeky squirrels crossing her path. But more than anything, Charley loved her people. She was a familiar face throughout her neighbourhood and a loyal friend to the people and pets around her.

“Though her yard is quieter now and the squirrels can scamper in peace, the memory of her wagging tail, her sweet companionship, and her immense capacity for love will live on forever.”

Charley, it was our honour to help your family give you a peaceful goodbye after a lifetime filled with so much love.

Run free, sweet Charley — by the lake, through the fields, and wherever the squirrels may lead you. 💜🐾🌈

Through our work, we've seen firsthand how much the Farley Foundation can mean to a family facing financial hardship. There have been times when their support has helped us give a beloved pet a peaceful goodbye at home, when it might not otherwise have been possible.

That's why we're hoping to raise $1,000 this October, one little portrait at a time.

💙 Big News & Some Little Updates!

We've got a few things happening at Black Creek that we'd love to share with you!

👶 Baby News! Dr. Erin welcomed her little one on September 28th! Mom and baby are both doing well, and we're so happy for their growing family!

🎨 Pet Portrait Fundraiser! We've been busy creating beautiful custom watercolour-style ai-pet portraits in support of the Farley Foundation! These make wonderful Christmas gifts! You'll receive a digital file to print, frame, or even maybe even turn into an ornament. All proceeds help Ontario pet families experiencing financial hardship access much-needed veterinary care. Our fundraising goal is $1,000!

🧵 Our Next Sewing Bee is soon! Join us Monday, November 2nd, from 3:00–7:30 pm at the St. Marys Public Library. We're hoping these extended hours make it easier for you to join us in creating Pet Loss Hearts for grieving families. Free to attend and sew!

🩺 Flexible Appointment Options! Dr. Amber has added more evening and weekend appointment options each month, offering families a little more flexibility when planning a peaceful goodbye at home. Reach out to discuss availability 🌈.

🎤 An Evening with Dr. Erica! On November 12th Dr. Erica will be visiting the Innerkip Library for an evening presentation about preparing for a pet's end of life. It's an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and better understand how to plan ahead for this important stage of our pets' lives. More details to come!

🐾🌈 Honouring Sam 🌈🐾

April 4, 2018 – July 5, 2026

“Sam was our sweet, goofy, silly boy.”

For Sam, there was nowhere better to be than near his people. He was rarely far from Danielle, Lena and Joe — unless, of course, he was deliberately running away just far enough to convince someone to chase him.

Behind that goofy exterior was a fiercely loyal boy. Sam kept watch over his home, made sure strangers kept their distance on walks, and always seemed to know that his place was right alongside the people he loved most.

Despite lifelong mobility challenges, Sam never lost his enthusiasm for the things that made him happy. He loved walks and hikes, cottage days, car rides, visiting new places, playing with other dogs, knocking balls around and trying his very best to catch that elusive laser pointer light.

Even as his health declined, Sam’s favourite thing never really changed. Whether relaxing inside, going for a drive or simply people-watching from the front yard, he just wanted to be with his people.

“Sam, thank you for all the love you gave. My sweet boy, you will always have a piece of my heart.”

Sam, it was our honour to help your family give you a peaceful goodbye at home, surrounded by the people you spent your life loving so fiercely.

You are deeply loved and missed by Danielle, Lena and Joe, and by all the family and friends whose lives were made a little brighter — and undoubtedly a little sillier — because you were part of them.

Until you meet again, sweet Sam. 💙🐾🌈

Some goodbyes come after weeks or months of preparation. Others arrive far sooner than anyone could have imagined. 💙

Bronx was only five years old when his family was faced with an unexpected goodbye, with everything changing in the span of just 24 hours.

When there has been so little time to prepare, being able to slow things down, surround a beloved pet with familiar faces and love, and create a gentle final memory can mean so much.

Thank you, Lauren, for trusting us with Bronx’s care and for sharing such heartfelt words about your experience. It was truly an honour to be welcomed into your home and to help make his farewell as peaceful and beautiful as possible. 🐾💙

This Thanksgiving, our hearts are full. 🍂💜

We’re thankful for the quiet moments of connection between pets and the people who love them. For the incredible bond we’re invited to witness. For the families who open their homes, share their stories, their tears and their memories with us — and trust our team during one of the most tender moments of loving a companion animal.

We’re thankful to be welcomed into communities throughout our service area, and to have the opportunity to bring comfort, dignity and support to pets and their families when they need it most.

And above all, we’re thankful for you — the families who place such tremendous trust in our hands. It is a privilege we never take lightly.
