MOST LOVED PASTURE ORNAMENT
The horse in this photo is not a Canadian. His name is Morgan and he's apparently a very well bred ( which I only found out years into his ownership and by accident from a person familiar with the breed) registered Tennessee Walker. We met when he was 5, I rode him for the first time when he was 9, we purchased him when he was 12 and this year we celebrated his 23rd birthday. His breeding meant nothing to me. So what does this TWH have to do with our breeding program, you might ask? Morgan's coming into our lives has soon brought more, you know, they truly are like chips! ;)) Our first Canadian mare was soon followed by our stallion, Beethoven. Then, showed up FireFly, Beethoven's daughter. The rest is history. Morgan has helped raise several foals and served as a welcome wagon to newly arrived horses, patient and steady. The last batch of babies are perfectly fine on their own now, but they still follow his lead. Lately, I noticed more grey hair on his face, I noticed he enjoys his quiet time more than before, and I also noticed more stiffness in his body. As I was observing him enjoying his morning snooze today once again I realized how much I really owe to this horse. He doesn't care it's Thanksgiving, but I'm feeling grateful. He pushed me onto the path we're on and I truly believe that without him, and without all the lessons he taught me along the way we wouldn't be where we are today. He was that ripple that started it all. I'm sure many of you share similar experiences, because there's always that one horse 💗
Happy Thanksgiving
