We were hoping to be ready to give lessons by this time of year but building our arena is taking longer than anticipated. In the meantime don’t worry kids — June is keeping all the horses exercised and groomed for you.

Happy father’s day to all the dads out there, doing chores, working hard to provide for their families, waking up early with the babies and going to bed late fixing fences.

I thank God every day for the man that He brought into my life. He is the most amazing father to our children and the best husband I could’ve dreamed of.

“The Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son.”

There’s some horses that are just that special.

Our little June welcomed her first very own horse today, Derby was her late grand Auntie Miranda’s barrel horse and then after she passed she became her Nana’s barrel horse. In her prime she was quite the horse, they went all over Alberta racking up wins, running low 17s when not many people were.

When we decided to sell T-Wife I knew she’d have some big shoes to fill for our kids but I know Derby is gonna step up in that role just fine.

June is the fourth cowgirl in the family to swing a leg over the sorrel mare. We’re quite excited for her to learn how to ride and barrel race on solid old Derb and for Sarah to trust us with her.

Another storm rolled in this morning, we thank God for the rain for our farmers but I am sure getting excited to start on some new projects before the snow rolls again.

We’re really happy with how our fences came out, we chose wood so we wouldn’t have to worry about horses (and the minis) being able to break out of them. Now that we have more pen completed and that the grass is long and luscious we’re getting ready to add some more horses to our feed bill
