Too Da Lou “Badger”
2019 AQHA Bay Gelding | 15.1 HH

Sired by A Frenchmans Ledoux and out of an Easy Bandit Bar mare.

Badger is a versatile gelding with plenty of outside miles. He’s been used hauling salt, checking cattle, crossing creeks, attending brandings, roping calves, tracking steers, and helping start c**ts.

He’s currently going well on the barrel pattern and is ready to continue in that direction. He has also spent time with a cow horse trainer and is soft, responsive, moves his shoulders and hips willingly, backs off pressure, and has a solid stop.

Would make an excellent ranch horse, rope horse prospect, or barrel horse.

Requires minimal hock maintenance to keep him feeling his best. He can be a little tight at times but is not bronchy and works out of it easily.

Small cosmetic indent in the center of his forehead from a yearling injury. Strictly cosmetic and causes no issues.

If you knew this c**t’s mom, you probably remember her- Jackie ( Jacs twister gal)

She wasn’t exactly what you’d call user-friendly. She was the kind that made you question your life choices most of the time you swung a leg over. One of the only horses that could consistently make me think, “Well, this might be how I die.”

But man, could she ever perform. A true athlete.

For all of her flaws, she was one of the most naturally talented horses I’ve ever sat on. The kind that makes you put up with a whole lot of nonsense because the talent was just that good.

So naturally, we bred her to Finn (Ima Smoke Show) and crossed our fingers.

The result? Jacs Last Show, better known as Ollie.

Now, Ollie inherited a little bit of his mama’s sass. He’s had moments on the ground where you’d swear he was carrying on the family tradition. Thankfully, Sam has put in the work and turned him into a respectable member of society. ( THANK YOU Sam Kelts)

Yesterday I got to watch his first ride outside the round pen and only the fourth ride of his entire life.

And if that little bu**er didn’t just lope around making beautiful circles like he’d been reading the training manual behind our backs.

No drama. No theatrics. Just cruising around looking like he belonged there.

It’s still early, but it’s hard not to get excited about this one. If he got his mama’s talent and only half her crazy, we’re going to have something pretty special on our hands.

Hickorys Sweet Toof
2022 AQHA Bay Mare | 14.3hh

“Toof" is very sweet — a kind, soft, willing mare that genuinely wants to please. She’s the type that meets you at the gate, tries hard for her rider, and takes new things in stride. She has a quiet, easygoing personality and a very versatile foundation that could take her in a lot of different directions.

She has had a professional cow horse start, but we feel she would truly excel as an all-around using horse. Whether you want to go trail ride, attend clinics, do some penning and sorting, start roping on her, continue on the barrels, or simply have a dependable ranch partner, she has the mind and attitude to fit a variety of homes.

Toof is good with time off and stays gentle and honest with no buck, bolt, or rear. She has good feet and bone, hauls well, is generally easy to catch, and gets along nicely in the herd.

She’s been rode through water and hills, dragged the log, had a rope swung on her, and is started on the barrels. More than anything, she’s the kind of mare that is enjoyable to be around — soft natured, willing, and happy to go try whatever you ask of her.

Sound and ready to continue on with in any direction.

Selling horses shouldn’t be this hard… so here’s a little PSA for buyers scrolling sale ads 👀

READ. THE. ENTIRE. AD.

Not just the first line. Not just the pictures. The whole ad.

If you message asking questions that are blatantly answered in the ad — where the horse is located, the price, the age, the height, whether it’s registered, etc. — you are immediately telling the seller you did not take the time to read it.

And if you can’t take 2 minutes to read the ad to see if the horse even matches your criteria, most sellers do not have time to answer repetitive questions from someone who is likely not a serious buyer.

Serious buyers read the ad.

Now, while we’re here:

➡️ “Needs consistent riding” — that usually means something changes when they sit. Maybe they’re cold backed, maybe they get fresh, maybe they’re just very green and lose their brain without miles. Either way, there’s a reason it’s included.

➡️ “Experienced riders only” — this does NOT mean “perfect for my 10-year-old if we pony them for a while.”
It means EXPERIENCED riders only. If a seller puts that in the ad, there’s a reason. Respect it.

➡️ “Has quirks” — ASK what the quirks are BEFORE loading your child up to come try it. Some quirks are manageable. Some are absolutely not suitable for inexperienced riders. Don’t assume “quirky” means cute and funny.

➡️ “Maintenance required” — ask what maintenance it needs before booking a viewing. If injections, meds, special shoeing, or supplements aren’t in your budget, that’s okay… but figure that out before wasting everyone’s time.

➡️ If the ad lists everything the horse has done… don’t ask “what else has it done?” Chances are, if it had extensive experience doing something else, it would’ve been included already.

➡️ When sellers post clear leg pictures, USE them. They’re there for a reason — to show conformation, blemishes, straightness, crookedness, swelling, scars, all of it. Learn what you’re looking at or bring someone knowledgeable with you.

➡️ And while we’re at it… shopping outside your budget is unnecessary. If a horse is listed at a certain price point and your first message offers 25% or more below the asking price, most sellers will immediately write you off. If you can’t afford the horse you’re shopping for, don’t waste the seller’s time. There’s nothing wrong with having a budget — just shop within it.

At the end of the day, good sellers are trying to honestly match horses with suitable homes. Reading the ad carefully before messaging makes the process easier for everyone — buyers, sellers, and most importantly, the horse.

If you've made it this far. Thanks for coming to my TED TALK.

🔥SOLD🔥
✨ Malone ✨
2018 gray gelding • just over 15.1hh

Malone is the kind of gelding that’s hard not to like — athletic, kind-minded, smooth to ride, and easy to have around. He has excellent feet and bone, is sound with no blemishes, and has all the tools to go in several directions.

He sells grade, however we do know he is sired by Fix N to and out of a Peptoboonsmal bred mare. Unfortunately papers were never obtained, so he sells as grade.

Started in our program and ridden fairly consistently since, Malone has a solid foundation with plenty of ranch miles, without being overused or having the wheels run off him. He has been used for ranching and roping, is good in the herd, soft on the bridle, and stays honest after time off.

He has also been started on the barrel pattern and is showing a lot of promise as a barrel prospect. Super athletic, willing, and naturally smooth moving, he would excel finishing out in the barrels, or continue on as a ranch/rope horse. Malone also spent time with Ben Juhaz last year furthering his training as a rope horse.

Just a really kind, talented gelding that’s enjoyable to ride and be around every day.

🔥SOLD🔥
Seven ✨PRICE REDUCED
12yr old grade mare • 14.3hh

Seven is a handy, athletic mare with good feet and bone and plenty of real-world experience. She sells grade, but we do know her breeding for anyone interested.

She has been to the mountains extensively both solo and in groups, crosses water without issue, hauls well, and drinks great on the road. She stands well for the farrier, ties, and is good for baths.

Seven is extremely smooth to ride, moves well off leg pressure, is soft in the bridle, and has a nice stop and spin. She has had lots of cow horse lessons and is a really nice ride for someone wanting a broke, handy mare.

She has done some penning, worked the flag, tracked buffalo, moved cows in the hills, competed in stock horse races, and has even been rode ba****ck.

She is a very sensitive mare and is best suited for experienced riders only. She has some quirks( cold backed with time off, can be reactive on the ground with people she does not trust) and does best with an understanding partner. Seven thrives with regular riding and does best with someone willing to build trust and a true partnership with her. Once she trusts her person, she will do anything for them.

For the right home, she has a lot to offer.

Please do NOT inquire if you are looking for your green kid, are not a confident rider or don't ride atleast 3 times a week.

PM for more information/videos.

C**t starting doesn’t have to mean endless circles in the arena.

Yes, those first 60 days matter—we’re focused on forward movement, building confidence, and having their backs. But that doesn’t mean that’s all they’re capable of, or all they should experience. C**ts benefit from variety. Straight lines, getting out of the arena, learning to stand, swinging a rope—those things build a different kind of understanding and a more relaxed, thinking horse.

When you drop a c**t off for training, it’s okay to ask for that exposure. A well-started c**t isn’t just one that can lope circles—it’s one that’s balanced mentally and physically, and ready to go in any direction.

You can’t force a c**t to be something they’re not. But you can give them the tools, the confidence, and the experiences that let them figure it out in a way that makes sense to them.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for a young horse is slow it down, change it up, and let their mind settle. That’s how you build one that lasts.

Sam's done a great job on these two barrel prospects who are finishing up their 60 day starts!
