On Thanksgiving weekend we noticed this article posted to the CBC Newfoundland and Labrador website. . This is a paid opinion piece by Gord Follett, former editor of the Newfoundland Sportsman magazine. We have taken exception to this article based on our experiences as a Beagle rescue organization and written to the managers at CBC asking they issue a disclaimer. While we certainly understand that there are some good hunters out there who treat their Beagles like family, we do not feel that Mr. Follett's article truly represents what is really happening here in our province. As most of you know who visit this page, there are often dogs in our care who are suffering from neglect, abuse, have major health issues, fear issues, etc. While not all of these dogs come from a hunting background, many do. We feel we can not stay silent and let this story circulate without context.
We ask that if you agree, that you may add your voice and your thoughts on Mr. Follett's article as well, and share this post. We are the only voice many of these dogs have and we must use it.
