π§ June is Aphasia Awareness Month.
Aphasia is a communication disorder that can occur as the result of a stroke or brain injury. It may affect a person's ability to speak, understand language, read, or write. While aphasia can make communication challenging, it does not affect intelligence.
This month is an opportunity to raise awareness about aphasia and the importance of creating accessible, inclusive communication for everyone.
Speech-language pathologists play an important role in assessing and treating aphasia, helping individuals strengthen communication skills and participate more fully in everyday life.
