🧠 June is Aphasia Awareness Month.

Aphasia is a communication disorder that can occur as the result of a stroke or brain injury. It may affect a person's ability to speak, understand language, read, or write. While aphasia can make communication challenging, it does not affect intelligence.

This month is an opportunity to raise awareness about aphasia and the importance of creating accessible, inclusive communication for everyone.

Speech-language pathologists play an important role in assessing and treating aphasia, helping individuals strengthen communication skills and participate more fully in everyday life.

Still a few more days to share your access wins and be entered for a prize draw. We love hearing from our members.

The 2026 theme for Speech & Hearing Month, Access Changes Everything, highlights the need for Canadians to receive timely, equitable, and culturally safe support from speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and communication health assistants.

To celebrate, the Communications Committee invite you to share your biggest access win. Leave us a comment telling us how, and NLASLPA members will be entered into a draw for 1 of 4 $50 gifts cards from Amazon.
