Hi Everyone!
I hope everyone had a good September and is settling back into the routine of the school year.
I’ve been working at D’s Dog Spa for a few months now and am enjoying it alot! Working here has also made me step back and take a look at my pricing.
I’ve realized that when I was working out of Witless Bay, I was severely undercharging for most dogs. While I had announced a price raise would be happening when I started at D’s, the difference between what I had charged at the old salon, and how much the average rate of grooming is at other salons, was huge.
I started with a slight price increase so it wouldn’t be a huge jump in price for my clients, but even with the raise, my prices are still nowhere near where they need to be and I am not making a livable wage.
That being said, starting this Monday I will be raising my prices to the industry standard. This may be a big price raise for some dogs, and you will notice this mostly with fluffy dogs, such as huskies, etc, that require hours of brushing, bathing and deshedding, but still expect a price raise for other types of grooms as well.
While dog grooming may be a big expense, it’s not for nothing. Continued education, quality products, the rising prices of those products, and quality work is what you’re paying for.
While I understand that this may mean that some of my clients might look for a new groomer, I deserve to be payed what i’m worth and have no ill will towards those who decide to no longer bring their pup to me.
If you would like a quote for what your pups new price will be, please send me a message and I will be happy to give you one!
Thanks for your continued support,
Brianna.
