My name is Megan Despard, TBI Survivor and owner of Wiggle

s and Whiskers and I'm super excited to share my love of all things pets and handmade for pets with you! I’m Kitty Mom to Winnie, our Chief Toy tester here at Wiggles and Whiskers. She is a very fun and funky black, DSH polydactyl rescue cat... She has 7 toes on each of her front paws and 5 each on her back paws. We live in an almost 100-year-old home, in the great little community of St. Jacobs in Southern Ontario. We also have a growing wholesale side of Wiggles and Whiskers where we sell dog toys, accessories and signature designed bandanas.

Happy 🐱💕

Science says that snuggling a purring cat may actually be good for your health! Spending time petting a calm, purring cat can help lower stress levels, reduce blood pressure, and increase the release of feel-good hormones like oxytocin. A cat’s purr has even been associated with calming effects that may help humans relax and unwind.

But honestly… most cat lovers already knew that 😸

There’s something special about the warmth of a cat curled up beside you, the steady rumble of a purr, and those quiet moments of connection after a long day.

So today is the perfect excuse to give your kitty an extra cuddle, chin scratch, or cozy lap nap. ❤️

Today we're celebrating one of nature's most fascinating creatures—the turtle! Whether they're gliding through the water or basking in the sun, turtles remind us to slow down, enjoy the journey, and appreciate the world around us.

As animal lovers, we're grateful for all the amazing species that share our planet. Let's do our part to protect turtles and their habitats so future generations can continue to enjoy these incredible reptiles.

One of the best parts of being a professional dog walker is getting to experience all the small and big signs of the changing seasons. 🌿🐾

Spring lilacs, summer sunshine, crisp autumn leaves, fresh winter snow… every walk can feel a little different, and the dogs remind me to slow down and enjoy it all. Today I stopped adorable Lucy so we could get a photo with the pretty lilacs, and honestly, I don't think she minded taking a break from her sniffing to 'smile' for a photo. 💜

Feeling grateful for a job that keeps me moving, outside, and surrounded by happy dogs every day.

Happy International Chihuahua Appreciation Day!

Tiny dogs, giant personalities. ❤️

Happy National Pet Day to all of the furry, feathered and scaled family members who make our days brighter 🐾 ❤️

Today we’re celebrating the wagging tails, happy purrs, goofy zoomies, wet noses, and the unconditional love that make pets such an important part of our lives.

It’s such a privilege to care for your incredible companions — whether it’s adventurous walks, cuddles, playtime, or keeping them company while you’re away. Every pet has their own unique personality, and I love getting to know each one.

I love it when I get the chance to deliver orders to customers AND meet new kitties like little 1 year old rescue 'Willow'. She is newly adopted, full of energy, lots of fun and very friendly with her new family. She was curious about her new crinkle square right away, and she flopped on top of it once she had given it a full 'inspection' 😁.

A stomach bug has put this solo business owner in 'survival mode' this week, which is why I'm a bit late in celebrating Professional Pet Sitters Week.

I love what I do, the people and animals I get to meet, but this time of year is also a great time to raise awareness about the value of the work of professional dog walkers and pet sitters. Thank you to all my clients for your support over the years as I've grown both aspects of my business, first the website starting in 2020 and then Wiggles and Whiskers Pet Services 2022. ❤️

These two cuties have been an absolute dream to visit and care for while their humans have been away this past week. Brother and sister, Jasper and June Bug are a friendly, moderately affectionate duo, with food being their priority when I come to visit twice daily. After they eat, sometimes they will engage in some playtime with a wand toy with me, but most times they are content to lie in a sunbeam or perch atop their cat tree by the window. As far as black cats go, they are both very photogenic!

This is Jessi. She wants you and every dog out there to know that today is National Dog Biscuit Day! While the specific origins of this day are unknown, there are most certainly LOTS of supporters of this day, especially those with four legs! 🐕 Fun Fact: The first commercial dog treat, known as "Spratt's Meat Fibrine Dog Cakes," was created around 1860.
