This little guy's tail says it all — and science backs him up.
Owning a dog isn't just fun; it's genuinely good for you. Studies show dog owners have a 24% lower risk of dying from any cause, and dog owners who've had a heart attack or stroke see even bigger benefits — up to a 65% reduced risk of death. Dogs also get us moving more, ease stress, and fight loneliness — basically a built-in reason to get outside and smile every day.
Here's the hard part: right now, an estimated 500,000 dogs and cats are waiting in shelters across the country for a home just like yours. Every wagging tail like this one deserves a family.
So if you've been thinking about it... maybe today's the day. Consider adding a new member to your family — your heart (literally) might thank you for it.

🎉 Exciting Announcement! 🎉
We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Bay to our veterinary team! 🐾
Dr. Bay will be joining us 2–3 days a week, and we’re so excited to have her as part of our team and to offer her experience and care to our patients and their families.
Here’s a little bit about Dr. Bay and her background:
Anik was born in Montreal, grew up in Belgium and earned her B.Sc. at McGill University. It was while she was working for the Government of Ontario that she decided to follow her heart and applied to the Ontario Veterinary College, graduating in 2014. She promptly moved to British Columbia and has been living in Victoria since 2015.
Anik is passionate about providing informed, collaborative and family-focused care for our furry family members. She knows that vet visits can be stressful and aims to provide a positive experience for her patients. Her interests include complex medical cases and the needs and comfort of our senior pet population. In 2022, she became a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian after completing over 100 hours of continuing education with the International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care. She loves cats of all temperaments and currently cohabitates with four senior cats.
In her time off, she loves cooking and experimenting in the kitchen, reading, Studio Ghibli movies, and challenging herself with complex knitting patterns.
Please join us in giving Dr. Bay a warm welcome! We’re so happy to have her with us.

September Schedule Updates!

We have a few changes to our usual schedule in September, so please take note of these special dates:

September 7 — CLOSED FOR LABOUR DAY

September 14 — SURGERY DAY
We WILL BE OPEN for scheduled surgeries and our regular services.

September 21 — NO DVM
We will be open for medication and food pick-ups only. There will be no veterinarian available this day.

September 28 — SURGERY DAY
We WILL BE OPEN for scheduled surgeries and our regular services.

Please plan your medication, food, and appointment needs accordingly. Thank you for your understanding!
