🎥 Slo-mo schooling with Sarah & Sarasota 🔁
We’re working through a gymnastic line — but what do you think we’re really focusing on here? 🤔
Here’s a hint:
✅ Rider: Holding and landing in 2-point position
✅ Horse: Improving hind end engagement, bascule, and scope
Let’s break it down 👇
💥 Equitation isn’t just about looking pretty — it’s about function. A correct, effective 2-point position helps riders stay with the motion, stay out of the horse’s way, and land in balance, helping their horses jump better. That’s why we’re focusing on Sarah’s hold and landing phase — her leg stability, hip angle, and upper body control.
🐎 Bascule is the horse’s shape over the fence — a rounded arc through the back and neck, using their hind end to push off and their topline to stretch and fold over the jump. It’s the difference between a flat, careless effort and a powerful, scopey jump that protects the rails (and the rider!).
🧠 Good training is intentional.
Too often, “jump schools” become command-class style lessons — “again, again, again” — with no progression or targeted development. But true equestrian sport means training both horse and rider with purpose, developing their partnership and performance over fences.
