Jake and his new adopted family just completed the Foundations in Training class. Jake is an adult dog with little previous training --just like his pet parents-- and they all proved that learning can happen at any age.

Many members visited the park this weekend to take in the autumnal beauty. The fall foilage is at its peak.

We have more graduates of the Foundations in Training and Marvellous Manners class. Both dogs and their humans started the class with little previous training. By the end of the program, there was better behaviour and understanding at both ends of the leash!

This pair started off intending to complete the Teenager Tune-Up class, but it soon became evident that with Boba's calm, cool composure, he was better suited to the challenges of the Defeating Distractions class. Boba's human learned how to help Boba choose him over temptations in the environment, and Boba learned to check in with his handler when temptation strikes. Both did a great job!

With the help of some wonderful park members and my lovely daughter, the overwhelming became subdued and decimated. Last week, this area was a demoralizing sea of buckthorn saplings. Three park members (and Luna for comic relief 🐕) answered my plea for help last Sunday and together we worked to rid the area of the invasive menace. What a difference a small army can make!

The shade of the forest and cool water in the pond at the dog park provided a nice respite from the heat today.

We have two sets of graduates from the Foundations in Training and Marvellous Manners class - one in French, and another in English. Les finissants de la classe française ont fait d'énormes progrès en matière de marche en laisse, de rappel et de bonnes manières. The English students developed leash skills, polite greetings, recall and impulse control. Les deux groupes sont fiers de leurs résultats.

A park member booked the perfect time today between rain showers to visit the park with her canine companion and shared the beauty of the forest with us.

With the great weather and my daughter home for the summer, I'm able to make great progress on projects at the dog park.

This cute and very energetic Jack Russell terrier just finished an intensive training programme with her human. They worked 5 days straight on improving Jynxie's leash manners and recall, with very good results. It was truly a team effort. Once Jynxie's human learned the right techniques and how to communicate effectively with her dog, Jynxie understood and was happy to comply. It was a win-win result!
