We are very happy with UNI's performance this weekend at the Red Barn Scent trials , held at the beautiful Tiffin Centre for Conservation area. What a gorgeous place to trial dogs in stunning fall colours!

UNI breezed through her OPEN title- with great focus in both Interior and exterior searches and she is now started on her EXCELLENT CKC title with getting 'Containers' on her first try (upon "move-up"). So we could not be more pleased with our girl; now formallly known as: CH Kyon Uno's Lasting Legacy SD-S, SD-A, SDN, SDO. ❤️👏

Many thanks go out to judges Danielle Choiselat-LeVangie & Cindy Bayers who worked long days with a smile to every competitor- and thank you also to all the cheerful and helpful Red Barn Volunteers. It was a pleasure trialling in such a friendly atmosphere!

Much Gratitude- as always- goes to John Mairs ( Tamsu Learning centre) for being such an amazingly supportive coach.🥰

One of the very BEST dogs we have ever bred: LUECA ( CLLA Kyon's Lueca Skywalker CRVXMCL, CWG8, CDX,RM RAE, S CGN, DJX,DNA, HDNA, RATS MBRH, MBR, RATS master CH, Working Honours Champion) has now passed away- a few short weeks before his 12th birthday.

He was gently let go, due to aspiration pneumonia and swallowing difficulties- as well as other aging related issues, mostly caused by a cranial nerve sheath tumour.

We have no words to adequately describe this dog and cannot express enough our deep gratitude to his owner Liz Kozoriz.

To say we have been proud of LUECA and are deeply saddened that he is now gone is an understatement.

Our hearts go out to Liz with our deepest condolences - Please know we grieve with you. However, a better life than what Lueca led no dog can ever dream of. ❤️

Rest in Peace , dear boy - and run free.

We are so enormously proud of Pat Vanden Heuvel & Tammy Szabo's Norwegian Buhunds’ success at the US National Speciality!

Pat contacted Karin almost 11 years ago and said she would love a Buhund "to have fun with". Karin and Pat were already long-time Golden Retriever friends and breeders. ❤ Karin sent LOKI (Can Ch/ Am GrCh Kyon's Bold Nordic Prince) to Pat. Four years later FRIDA (ch Kyon's Fine Flotte Frida) joined him. Both Loki & Frida got their titles-in a flash-and passed all health clearances- and as planned; they were bred. The result was some outstanding offspring!

Today "ODEN " (Ch* Woodwing Guard of Valhalla) took Winners Dog & Best of Winners & his sister HALLIE (Valhalla Hellacious 0ne) took Winners female , while their mother, FRIDA, won a Judges Award of Merit all at the US national!

To say we are Delighted and Proud is an understatement!

We are just so HAPPY with our TOBY ( Grand Champion Costadoro Bake me a cake at Kyon SD-S , CKC NSD https://k9-data.org/dog/detail/1354319 ). He just keeps racking up the titles- all with a smile!

First : a CKC championship in one weekend at 12 months , then : BOB (the first day moved up) for his first major Gr CH points. Next : a judges 1st Award of Merit at 15 months at GRCC 2025 national, then followed by another JAM at Quebec regional speciality. Next: 5 point Select dog at the large Aurora booster under breeder judge at 18 months. Finally a 5 point Select dog at GRCGT 2026 speciality - at 2 years- plus 2 more big select dog wins that weekend . He achieved his Grand championship- in the blink of an eye- always with 5 point wins in heavy competition. ❤

Toby was highly awarded by Canadian judges, Australian all breed judges, American breeder-judges, a Mexican breeder-judge and a Danish breeder judge! Always handled in the show ring by his best friend Colin Brownlee.❤

Toby shows great promise in the performance field too! Currently has SDDA started Scent title with Gold scores and judges award- and working in advanced. Also CKC Novice Scent dog title -in one go - and already started on Open. Toby will also move onto the Rally ring and has already started practising . Always trained and handled in the performance field by owner Karin.

We love this dog! He is also siring beautiful puppies- with wonderful open and gregarious temperaments, just like their daddy! Contact Karin at [email protected] or Sean at [email protected] for more information.

Toby is bred by: Michele Gawenka
Sire owner is: Emilie Edling.

We are very proud of ISLA ( Kyon's Gaia Lovelocks https://k9-data.org/dog/detail/1192831 ) who has now is fully qualified as a St. John's Therapy Dog. Isla is following in her daddy REBEL's footsteps who has been an exceptional therapy dog, for many years. Her dam is the clever LOOKER (who is featured just below here on this page ,when she turned 12).

Our deep gratitude goes out to Mary Haslett, who has trained both these our dogs so well. Isla is the dam to our own brilliant COCO ( Ch Kyon's Chanel 5)!

We are so very pleased that our Kyon dogs - both our Norwegian Buhunds and Golden Retrievers- are not only "pretty faces" : Both breeds have the kind of steady temperaments that makes them excel as therapy and service dogs.❤

RO-RO-RO! 🇧🇻 As we celebrated the Norwegian Soccer team's amazing success in this years's Soccer World-Cup we named these puppies accordingly, in honour of the talented Norwegian players. ❤And as we were with the Norwegian team: We are DELIGHTED with these puppies! ❤
They are now getting ready to move to their forever homes. If you are interested in one of these babies please contact Karin at [email protected] or PM here. Pedigree and clearances can be found here: .https://norwegianbuhund.breedarchive.com/animal/view/kyons-legendary-viking-captain-31a9e7ff-f81b-49a2-bd39-3cebeb062cd9

the Norwegian buhund is an ancient Nordic herding dog, predating viking times - and this breed is sadly nearing extinction.

At Kyon we have -for many decades- been trying to preserve this part of our own cultutal heritage. 🇧🇻This breed is amazingly intelligent- highly trainable- and super sweet family-pets. They excell in the show-ring as well in the performance field ( be it agility , rally, obedience, scenting, tracking or as natural instinctual herding dogs). They also are known as amazing Therapy & Service dogs -as well as hearing-alert dogs and medical-alert dogs... And our KYON Norwegian Buhunds have done it ALL - with great success - for many decades . This is in good part due to the dedication of our many fabulous buhund owners! 😊❤️👏

Have you ever wondered which is quickest learner among the various dog breeds? At KYON we are convinced that by far the Einstein of all dogs is the Norwegian Buhund!

We would like to congratulate owner Kimberly Pennie on socializing her buhund ARIA ( Kyon’s Northern Reflection of Valkyries RN) so well that it only took 5 days of formal training to get her into the rally ring where she on first try scored 97/100. 2 short weeks later Aria got 2 perfect scores of 100/100 to finish her Rally Novice title.

This could not have happened without the skills of her talented trainer/handler Megan Bishop. We are blown away by the clever Aria and so grateful and amazed by Megan’s training skills. Huge congratulations!!!

Aria’s sire is our wonderful FLINK ( ch Kimura’s Flink) and her dam is the gorgeous and clever AURORA ( ch Kyon’s Legendary Nordlys) . Aria was bred by Elise Barr-Klouman.
