RO-RO-RO! 🇧🇻 As we celebrated the Norwegian Soccer team's amazing success in this years's Soccer World-Cup we named these puppies accordingly, in honour of the talented Norwegian players. ❤And as we were with the Norwegian team: We are DELIGHTED with these puppies! ❤

the Norwegian buhund is an ancient Nordic herding dog, predating viking times - and this breed is sadly nearing extinction.

At Kyon we have -for many decades- been trying to preserve this part of our own cultutal heritage. 🇧🇻This breed is amazingly intelligent- highly trainable- and super sweet family-pets. They excell in the show-ring as well in the performance field ( be it agility , rally, obedience, scenting, tracking or as natural instinctual herding dogs). They also are known as amazing Therapy & Service dogs -as well as hearing-alert dogs and medical-alert dogs... Have you ever wondered which is quickest learner among the various dog breeds? At KYON we are convinced that by far the Einstein of all dogs is the Norwegian Buhund!

We would like to congratulate owner Kimberly Pennie on socializing her buhund ARIA ( Kyon’s Northern Reflection of Valkyries RN) so well that it only took 5 days of formal training to get her into the rally ring where she on first try scored 97/100. 2 short weeks later Aria got 2 perfect scores of 100/100 to finish her Rally Novice title.

This could not have happened without the skills of her talented trainer/handler Megan Bishop. We are blown away by the clever Aria and so grateful and amazed by Megan’s training skills. Huge congratulations!!!

Aria’s sire is our wonderful FLINK ( ch Kimura’s Flink) and her dam is the gorgeous and clever AURORA ( ch Kyon’s Legendary Nordlys) . Aria was bred by Elise Barr-Klouman.

Happy 12th birthday, darling Lu-Lu!!!
We owe much gratitude to her dedicated retirement owners Trudy Rudolph and Brad Matter , where Looker has lived- since before she turned 6. They are both doing such a wonderful job looking after this phenomenal girl of ours ❤❤.

Since we currently have Buhund pups at Kyon, people often ask what are the similarities / differences between our two breeds, the Golden Retriever and the Norwegian Buhund.

The answer is as follows:
Both breeds are incredibly succesful in the showring as they are strikingly beautiful dogs (we might be slightly biased). Moreover they are both sweet-natured, gentle and fantastic family-pets, ideally suited to families with children. Both breeds are highly trainable - and both breeds are well-suited to doing challenging 'work', be that as hunting or herding -dogs, as service dogs, therapy dogs, medical alert dogs or doing all kinds of performance sports. Both breeds love to relax by your side - yet both breeds are also expected to be able to 'work' in all kinds of conditions and weather !

However, while the Golden Retriever is primarily a hunting dog , the Norwegian Buhund is primarily a herding dog. A Golden Retriever learns best by taking direction and by repetitions , by being 'shown' what it is you expect. The Norwegian buhund, however, likes to figure things out; this breed is an independent problem-solver - and it will get bored by overly repetitive exercises.

The Golden is a larger dog and a fairly "new" and modern breed. The Buhund is a "slightly smaller than medium-sized" dog and is an ancient primitive breed( predating Viking times!). The Golden Retriever is a popular and well-known dog, while the buhund is a very rare breed, sadly nearing extinction.

The Kyon buhunds and goldens as represented by AURORA and FALCOR were bang on yesterday as England won the World cup final BRONZE over FRANCE!

Today’s predictions for the WORLD CUP FINALS is in and both buhunds and Goldens are again UNITED , they both choose SPAIN over ARGENTINA. Let the battle begin!!

Pippi ( Ch Kyon’s Legendary Pippi Long Stocking SD-CH) is perfectly caring for these viking-pups sired by KOPI ( Ch Kyon’s Kopiko Tyrison, owned & loved by Carmilia Sun & Tim Wong).

Buhund pups are born shades of dark grey, looking remarkably like wolf pups - and then gradually lighten up to a clear wheaten over time. This ancient and unique herding breed is sadly nearing extinction- but at KY0N we do our very best to preserve our cultural heritage by preserving the buhund , which also are such ideal family pets.

The 5 boy pups for now are (temporarily) named after some of the Norwegian soccer team-players in this FIFA world cup... while the litttle girl is named after the Viking chant (RO- RO- RO!!):

We L0VE celebrating our SENI0R working Kyon Golden Retrievers : such as the wonderful LUECA , who is turning 12 years (in a few weeks time) and is still keeping active, despite some old age issues.

CLLA Kyon's Lueca Skywalker CRVXMCL, CWG8, CDX,RM RAE, S CGN, DJX,DNA, HDNA, RATS MBRH, MBR, RATS master CH, Working Honours Champion, is entered in upcoming scenting trials and he simply loves to hunt too , according to his devoted/trainer handler/ owner Liz Kozoriz. He is the first Kyon Golden to ever achieve this Working Honours Champion title and we are ever so proud of Lueca and Liz.

Dearest boy; may you have much more time to enjoy your favourite things alongside your favourite person! 🙏❤
