Hey everyone! Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about ticks and fleas as the weather warms up. I want to remind you all that keeping both yourselves and your dogs protected is crucial—especially from the black-legged tick, which can carry Lyme disease. Last year, I was bit by one and did contract Lyme disease, but the signs in humans and dogs are a bit different. In humans, look out for a red bull’s-eye rash, fever, fatigue, and joint pain. In dogs, watch for lameness in the back legs, lethargy, loss of appetite, or fever. If you notice these signs, get your pup or yourself to the doctor or vet immediately. After walks, you can also run a lint sticky roller over your dog’s coat to catch any loose ticks. And it’s really good to know the different types of ticks, in case you do get a black-legged tick. Here’s a chart to help identify them. Let’s stay vigilant and keep ourselves and our dogs safe from Lyme disease. Stay up-to-date with tick and flea treatments, and options like Atlantick spray or natural tick repellent necklaces can also help. If you have questions, I’m here for you!

Big things are happening at Brittany’s Paw Spa! 🐾✨
I’m so excited to share that I’ve started renovating my new grooming building! It’s a work in progress right now, but I can’t wait to show everyone the transformation as it comes together. This space is going to be dedicated to making all of your pups comfortable, clean, and spoiled during their grooming visits. 🐶🛁✂️
A huge thank you to Atlantic Maritimes Buildings for the building itself. The process was smooth and they were great to deal with from start to finish. If anyone is looking for a quality building, I definitely recommend checking them out!
I’ll be posting updates as the renovations continue, so keep an eye out for progress photos. I’m so excited for this next step for Brittany’s Paw Spa and can’t wait to welcome all of your pups to the new location when it’s finished! 🐾💕

Dear Friends,
I’m excited to announce that my business will be relocating to a new location! The official relocation date is set for April 30, 2026. I will be grooming right up until that date at my current shop on Mackenzie Drive.
There may be a brief closure period during the relocation, so if your dog is due for grooming around that time, please book your appointment before April 30 to ensure timely service.
I’ll keep you updated as soon as I have more details on the new location, which will be close to Pictou.
Thank you so much for your continued support. I can’t wait to welcome you to our new space!
Warm regards,
Brittany Rankin
