Goose and Buddy came into the shelter days apart and we instantly knew they were LITTERMATES!! Separately brought in by two different families both now looking for a new home to call their own.

Buddy is calmer and more affectionate. Goose loves a pat but would rather be playing. Both are as sweet as can be and deserve the best homes.

Apply today for Buddy or Goose on the SSM Humane Society website!

**reminder that unless bonded we do not adopt out littermates due to littermate syndrome (look it up🧐) but Buddy and Goose would love to have other fur siblings!

We are so excited to have Discover the Canvas supporting the shelter animals and we can’t wait to see everyone there🐶🐈✨

We are taking a break from our light hearted and cute posts to put out a public announcement. Over the weekend an animal was tied to our front railing and the owner ran away, we have cameras and were able to view the whole thing after the fact. Our “drop box” is CLOSED and has been closed for years, but we have an emergency line available for after hours services. This animal in particular was dropped off while we were open, we would have taken in the animal.

We ask for information when animals are dropped off so that we understand their history, what they like and dislike, and even something as simple as their name, which to them is important. We deal with surrenders every day for every reason and we understand it may seem very shameful or embarrassing but please know that you are not the first and won’t be the last to leave a pet in our care. We are not here to judge, we are here to care for animals.

This is also not the first animal left outside our building recently. With the cold weather coming we especially do not want animals being left outside. It is never ok. Moving forward we ask that you bring your animal in the building to surrender them.

Meet Shep🧡😫🐱

Shep is a BIG guy with an even bigger personality and he is looking for his new furever home! You may not be able to tell but Shep is a big ole boy, weighing in at around 21 lbs🤫, Shep could use to lose a couple pounds in his new home. He also has a big personality, he knows what he wants and he gets it. He likes to wonder around our shelter, escaping the rooms we try to keep him in as he is not one for confinement. He sometimes listens when you call him back but not to worry he usually stays out of trouble, he just likes to know whats going on in the building. Shep also enjoys squeezing into tight spaces and can often be found in a cupboard. 🐾🫶🏼

If you are interested in Shep, how could you not be, please apply today!💙🐈
